Impressed with: Williams, Bastianelli, Bedart-Ghani, SSS, Duello, Foecke, Granato, Smith, Johnson Underwhelmed by: White, Poulter, Juley I was VERY impressed with pepperdines setter. She's was pretty good and had some nice blocks. I'm shocked tbh about white. I thought she played good. Not great, hit good. Juley winning the setter comp was a joke though

I a little suprised looking at the list that there are no athletes from the state of Oregon, and further, that there is no one from Jesuit on there. The finished undefeated, won the state championship, finished 4th in the nation, and not even an honorable mention. I would've at the very least put Nicole Peterson on the honorable mention list. she's a beast. Think Liz Brenner, but a better volleyball athlete.

Jesuit's best players are all underclassmen. This is for seniors only

Pretty much everyone on that Jesuit team (except the setter) were juniors or sops. And Peterson isn't quite a Brenner. Not as physical. Fun to watch though.

Too much all year around, I think finally took a toll on her.

She's gonna set at the next level anyways I think.

and, to answer some poster's future question, #1 recruit Hayley Hodson is not on the list because she doesn't play HS ball. and, to be honest, watching her play during club, not really sure if she wasn't trying or giving 100% but there were many other stand-outs, if I didn't know who she was I would of looked right passed her as if she was just another semi-tall 18's player that "SHOULD" be able to put the ball away. She was no Logan or in that stature of player at that age, not even close. I mean she did play with the National team but I just don't see why.

National team on her side, so they spent months together....putting them at a good advantage. I also think all three i was unimpressed with all showed a big upside, if they can get there.

I haven't posted on here in a while, but I thought I'd go into a little more detail about what I thought of the match.
I'm not going to base my opinions of these players on their stats. This was purely an exhibition match, and should be taken with a grain of salt. Anyway..
Williams: She looked closer to 6'1" than 6'3", but her speed more than made up for her lack of height. I've seen her play with Munciana a few times last year, and I don't think I've ever seen anyone as quick as her. She gives me some serious Simona Gioli vibes. Although I think she'll stay in the middle, I was extremely impressed with how comfortable she was on the left. She's got a great understanding of the game and with Carlini as her setter, will do some serious damage in the Big 10.
Bastianelli: This is the first time I've seen her play, and you could tell why she is so highly ranked. Big kid, big arm, mobile, and has the intangibles that separate the good from the great.
Bedart-Ghani: Didn't have a particularly good night, but I was very impressed by how smooth and light on her feet she was. She's very comfortable hitting OOS sets, which is perfect because she's going to Texas. Haley Eckerman 2.0.
SSS: Very smooth, very deceptive, great location, and a great understanding of the game. Minnesota is lucky to have her.
Duello: Needs work in the backrow, but was definitely one of the more impressive hitters of the night. She's got a very high ceiling, and I'm sure Sheffield will capitalize on her potential.
Foecke: A woman among girls.
Granato: Very solid player. Exactly what Hawaii needs at the L2 position. She's not flashy and she's not the most athletic or powerful girl in the gym, but she does her job well and keeps her errors low.
Smith: Probably the most polished player I've seen come out of high school since Carlini. She plays like an international-level OH.
Johnson: A bit undersized, but very powerful and less raw than I expected. Looked very comfortable hitting in front of the setter.
And now for the ones I was not as impressed with...
White: I've never seen her play before, and given that she's only 6'1" (and maybe less), I was expecting her to be a little more athletic. She's powerful and she moves well, but I don't think she has the athletic ceiling that some of her peers do.
Juley: Nothing special. Good size for a setter and pretty good hands. Doesn't have the intangibles IMO.
Poulter: I've only seen her play on video at the World Championships, where she was very impressive. However, her location was an issue at times during the match. In addition, a lot of people on this board have compared her to Carlini coming out of high school, which I think is completely unwarranted. Carlini as a senior was way ahead of Poulter. She's a great player, and I think she's going to have a great career at Illinois, but she's no Carlini.

Saw the Oklahoma City match on youtube. Granato only played set 2 and part of set 3. It was a prearranged substitution pattern for the entire team. One group played set 1, another group played set 2, and both groups played parts of set 3. Granato is the only one that I remember among the "All-Americans." She passed well and got lots of kills over big blocks. I don't have the stats but I think she had something like 5-7 kills. I wouldn't say she dominated -- because she didn't. But neither did anyone else. This is a match played by a bunch of girls who were really happy to be there. West won 3-0, but this wasn't a best-of-5 match. They played 3 sets no matter what the end result. Besides, nobody cared who won or lost.
