I'm sure that she's a wonderful person, but other than the family connection, why? FYI, she hit .168 last season. Great Question....was thinking the same thing on this.

UW had a less than stellar year and was .284. The only Husky OH to hit under .168 was Shannon at .148 and she rarely played the position last season. Lydia Grote could very well get some great coaching and really improve her numbers. But nothing in her recent past to indicate that it's likely.

The PAC needs Washington to remain relevant. Wonder what the league looks like after the departure next year. Huskies could dominate the PAC with Stanford.

Because UW and Stanford already dominate the PAC in volleyball. USC and UCLA have barely sniffed any PAC titles in the past 10 years. Since 2012 the UW or Stanford has been the PAC conference champion every year. Only once did USC get a share of that (tied with Washington in 2015). It's been 30 years since UCLA was last the sole conference champion, and almost 25 years since they were a co-champion (1999, with Stanford).

Lydia Grote would be a nice upgrade on the right side. Her numbers will go up at UW. Drechsel only hit .200 before coming to Seattle.

Not to say your first sentence would be wrong, just pointing out a difference between the two situations.

The UW vollleyball Instagram page recently followed a bunch of recruits. If anyone wants to check it out and do an analysis, feel free. 😂

Watched Haury setting for her team at the PNQ yesterday. She still has great location, makes very good decisions and led her team to relatively easy wins. What stands out to me is the consistent high-quality passes she gets on serve return and transition; I don't think I saw her setting out of system in any of her three matches. I'll be interested to see how she does with less than stellar passing.
