Naw, let's just say BITCH!!!! No, I think the operative word is CREEPY. I imagine Cynthia's mom being like Sally Field in one of those Lifetime movies titled "Stay Away From My Daughter".

Geez, Beachman. All you do is tell other posters they suck and you CAPITALIZE a few words and throw in a few smiley/frowny/winking faces to try to validate your opinion. That's so annoying. I feel like a 9 year old is making these posts. ;D good post brybry. I was trying to compose something similar, but you already did an excellent job.

I think that the Long Beach State program deserves more credit for the development of Misty May. Misty was a part of the big freshmen threesome of Jenna Wrobel, Misty May, and Demetria Sance. All three of them were fantastic outside hitters with great all-around volleyball skills. But Misty went to the Beach to learn how to set from best setting coach out there. If you watched Misty set as a freshman, the improvement in her game was astronomical. I doubt that there are many programs that would've allowed Misty to grow into the player that she has become.
That being said, to argue that Long Beach State is basically a pathway to the National Team and no other school can boast that .. that's ridiculous. Stanford, UCLA, USC, Long Beach State, Hawaii, Nebraska and Pacific alumnus have all had significant representation at the International level.

Sance, and while Jenna played well, I would be willing to bet big bucks that she wished she had gone to Long Beach.....actually I know that she wishes that she had gone there because I heard her say that to a couple of people once....after she graduated, and I know that she probably regrets her decision

Sweet, a new fight on the boards, this time it's USC vs. LBSU. Takes the heat off the Florida vs. Hawaii stuff, for the time being anyways.
I'd just like to say, that everyone should know by now that if a player goes anywhere but LBSU, they will never ever ever be as good as they could've been, had they gone to the beach. Isn't it obvious? ;D

The Beach should fire him immediately and get themselves a more congenial and honest PR man.

The Beach should fire him immediately and get themselves a more congenial and honest PR man. I actually showed Beachman's posts here on Volleytalk to 2 former Beach alumna (one of them being an Olympian). Both of them are very upset at how he represents Long Beach. They will make this known to the Beach higher-ups. BTW, they know who he is!

Not if they are personal friends that you have had a relationship with over time. Furthermore there is a difference between just having a casual conversation and doing a recruiting pitch....you ought to save these little speeches for some of the other D1 schools, like U$C whose coaches don't believe that the illegal contact rules apply to them! I know the rules! If Cynthia and her family were friends of yours before she was of recruiting age (isn't that defined as something like 8th grade?) then such contact isn't a violation - otherwise it potentially is a violation. How is it a casual conversation if you're discussing whether Cynthia will be attending LBSU?

I was looking through several student-run newspapers for the vball coverage in the fall. The one in LBSU, Online 49er, was very interesting. www.csulb.edu/~d49er/archives/2003/fall/sports/volLIVno56-volley.shtmlInteresting paragraphs: "You have to take your hat of to KU," head coach Brian Gimmillaro said in a somber post game press conference. "They outplayed us in every category, skill level, to discipline, to fight, they beat us."Gimmillaro was down on his team after the match saying that it lacked the leadership and drive it takes to be a successful college volleyball team. It was a comment that was not taken well by Erika Chidester and Jillian Mazzarella who were seated beside him at the press conference and were already upset by the loss. My thoughts: Cynthia might want to rethink about possibly going to LBSU! Lack of skills and discipline. Wow. Lots of troubles in Beachless land. ;D

He has a tendency to get out of control however. Perhaps a little over zealous and easily miffed if anyone questions his so called "inside info".

All of your beach bashers who post on this little website just kill me! You are sooooo afraid of Long Beach and you are soooo jealous of the success of the program and of it's former players and it coaches.....You are pathetic, and I hope you enjoy your opportunity to "bash while you can" because what goes around comes around and we are very confident at LBS that we will be back with a vengeance, as they say! So enjoy your petty little poison proliferation while you can
