so who will pick up Nuneviller? I can't imagine a player with National Team talent would want to stay on a team that didn't make the post season. It seems Oregon's coaching staff is not the best at recruiting and/or developing setters. Well she is not national team talent as a hitter and I think she really wants to hit in college. I don’t think she would be the OH1 on one top 25 team this year. Agree she would Libero on most, if not all (not Stanford or Penn State) of them. I actually think her playing Libero at Oregon would help them a lot but she/coaches seem dead set on her hitting. So how much longer does Ulmer have?

You're not wrong but man it is sad that your first statement is so true...that good players just pick up and go. I hope Nuneviller stays (unless of course there is more wrong than just bad VB). Transferring has become very normative and is even modeled in professional sports like NBA and NFL Agreed about setting there at UO...I think it's both, they've gone hard after decent setters but not great, and their progression is hard to see once there.Well here's the tough part about it, setter Kylie Robinson is actually the highest ranked recruit in Oregon history: "The Ducks' highest-ranked recruit in program history at No. 8 on the 2018 PrepVolleyball.com Senior Aces list ... Regarded as having one of the best volleyball IQs in the class of 2018 ... " And other new players: The other redshirt freshman MB Karson Bacon: "The No. 11 ranked player on the 2018 PrepVolleyball.com Senior Aces list, becoming the third-highest ranked recruit in program history" The libero that replaced Brooke Nuneviller, Georgia Murphy: "The No. 27 ranked recruit in the country according to PrepVolleyball.com and the top-ranked libero in the class of 2019 ... First-team Under Armour all-American" The other starting Outside Hitter Taylor Williams: "Oregon's highest ranked recruit in the class of 2019 at No. 23 on the PrepVolleyball.com Senior Aces list ... " It's not like the team has struggled recruiting.

I don't know how serious Morgan's injury is but it's clearly affecting her so (1) Brooke might be better than an injured Morgan and (2) even if not, if it would help Hentz recover faster, Nuneviller might be a better choice. Not that it matters since, unfortunately, Brooke's not an option.

Roadblocks: another "undersized", and pretty well-regarded, OH (McClure); an All-Everything Libero, contrary to those VT "experts" (First Team AA the past two seasons: Hentz). Opportunities at UO: play really quickly on a very good P-12 team (2017-8); (maybe) be promised a future OH gig.

I see another big exodus at the end of this year!!! My hope is they can play out the remainder of this season with nothing to lose and enjoy playing and see what they can really do. The expectations were so high with such a young group, and with the lack of depth and injuries they couldn't find any consistancy against more mature teams early on. Unfortunately having a losing record going into PAC-12 just amplified the pressure to win as we all have seen especially at the end of sets. After losing to the Arizonas, the pressure is really off, so just go out there and enjoy competing. We all are so bummed to see Ronika and Willow go out like this, so I hope the rest of the team treasures these last matches with them. They both are amazing women! I can't wait to watch their pro careers! It truly is a great group of young athletes with talent also. They will all have a year of experience playing lots of close matches, Taylor Borup back, Alex Laita healthy and a couple very solid 2020s (in addition to a potential transfer with a scholarship open) they could make some noise in 2020. I hope they can all see that they could be something special next season. #GoDucks Yes, I'm sure the vultures are circling. Hopefully, Matt can keep the team together in the offseason. More than a rebuilding year, the ability to keep a roster together is more important for the Ducks' (and Ulmer's) long-term prognosis. The team, sadly, just has not shown the ability to get it done this year - it really reminds me of 2015, just a less healthy version of the roster. Hopefully they can get some momentum going forward and close out the year strongly. No lie, it's been tough to watch this year. Football is back, at least.

One thing I’ve learned watching Oregon is just because “the list” ranks a player high doesn’t mean a whole lot. In fact I’d argue one of the strongest freshman on that team was uncelebrated coming in... based on the player bio’s on their website anyway. The rankings are based on potential ceiling, not where they are as a player. The highest-ranked recruit in the class is a great athlete but isn't a great volleyball player yet - there's a reason she was supposed to be redshirting this year. But things happened around her and she's been put on the spot to perform. She's had good matches and bad, but that doesn't change where she could be in 4 years. Taylor Agost was in a similar place as a freshman but wasn't called upon in the same role, and her high ranking proved true in the end. Oregon's problem this year is that a lot of players are being asked to do slightly to significantly more than they normally should - because of lack of depth - and you just can't rely on that many players to play to their ceiling day in and day out, and I don't think the second contact is responding well to the pressure that arises from this situation.

Is Borup injured and out for the season? You guys probably talked about this before but I'm not caught up with this thread. Also do you think Nuneviller shouold be lib? Or stay outside? Curious.

I think she is still hurt but even if she is better I would guess she will take a medical redshirt. Would be kind of pointless to play these last 10 games. They should leave Nuneviller wherever they see her playing next year. Murphy is not bad she is just not Nuneviller. With a year under her belt she should be a top Libero in the Pac-12. Especially because quiet a few liberos are graduating. If it was the beginning of this season my vote would be to have used Nuneviller as the Libero.

I do wonder if Borup will want to stay there if she returns. I’m sure she transferred to UO to be part of a wining program and play with players like Ronika Stone , Willow Johnson Jolie Rasmussen, etc...
They will all be gone or already gone when she returns. She will be part of a rebuild so she will most likely be part of another struggling team. She is from the east coast and have been at UO for two injured plague years. Might be time for a fresh start and return close to home or move on to a more competitive program.
Pitt maybe??

Would she have to sit one year with this being her second transfer? She might want to even graduate and move on with life.

I have heard she would like to return and shoot for a full and healthy season. I hope that is the case. With her back at OH 1 and everyone else with a year of growth and experience, could be a solid team. Now if the transfer trolls would please go away 🙄

I feel really bad for the Oregon program. They're one of my teams that I root for. Hope they can right this ship.

Think it's funny that Oregon is having a bad season so the reaction is that every player is going to leave. There clearly seems to be talent on this roster, maybe this should just stick it out, work on getting better, enjoy being part of a great university, and have a great season next year? I know, shocking suggestion.

Colorado is my other team and they are in the same boat but I think their seniors are the reason they are doing so poorly. I can’t imagine how bad Oregon would be without Johnson and Stone. I think Oregon is a great school and the kids will stick it out. I feel like their past transfers were due to a lack of playing time.
