I found the appendix referenced in the first post, but I got a message that the forum has exceeded it's attachment limit, and couldn't upload the pdf. For volleyball, the absolute last day for an alternate to be able to replace another athlete is the technical meeting which takes place August 4th. To find the full appendix, google "late athlete replacement appendix" and look for the second entry, a teamusa org cached result Thanks for verifying what mikegarrison wrote earlier. The 8 alternates named are just honorary mentions then, for all intents and purposes.
There's a better chance I'll win the lottery than any of them making it to Rio.
However, if one of the 12 gives birth to a microcephaly baby next year... ouch!!

Congrats to the Olympians... I haven't been following things closely but what happened to Hooker ? I just don't see the firepower on the right and second left for the USA.. Seems like international volleyball on the women's side isnt near the level as it was in 2012... Surprised that Carlini and Hancock weren't able to beat out the current group of setters on team USA ..

Congrats to the Olympians... I haven't been following things closely but what happened to Hooker ? I just don't see the firepower on the right and second left for the USA.. Seems like international volleyball on the women's side isnt near the level as it was in 2012... Surprised that Carlini and Hancock weren't able to beat out the current group of setters on team USA .. What happens to hooker ? I'll let you know. Her biggest problem is she thought she was a one woman show playing a team sport. She failed to bring Texas a national championship because she isn't a team player. She failed to help the US team bring home gold in 2012 because she isn't a team player!! She should stick to track and field 😂😂 |

She should stick to track and field 😂😂 i agree with you on the track and field comment, buuuuuut she needed the $$$ to support her lifestyle, vball camps (ahem), baby daddies and family. she saw $$$ and ran for it. side note, i had a friend whose niece attended hooker's camp once. she said it was a waste of money. |

I've already come to terms U.S. will most likely win Rio, just not in the total domination fashion we should have nor with our top stars who would make memorable plays worth watching. Of course I'll still watch the games just not as ardently as the men's side which will be an all out brawl. I'll be rooting for Brazil's three-peat. (No disrespect to Lowe.) Ah, that's pretty good positioning! If they win, you can claim they didn't win in as dominating a fashion as they would have if you had been in charge. And of course, if they don't win, then you do win. You don't get it at all, we've lost either way. We don't get to watch half our A team play in Rio! I wanted to root for a full U.S. A team. But now I have to root for an underdog aging Brazil team, least Lins isn't afraid to set Thaisa and Fabiana. |
