exit237a S: Mia Tuaniga L: Gala Trubint RS: Jadyn Livings OH: Ally Batenhorst OH: Adonia Faumuina MB: Tyrah Ariall MB: Leah Ford DS: Grae Gosnell DS: Paisley Douglas SS: Megan Verbiest Douglas and Gosnell have both seen time lately as a DS for Faumuina, but Gosnell would probably be the projected starter. Favor Anyanwu also may start over Tyrah Ariall or come in off the bench. Madison Pietsch sees time as a blocking sub but I’m not sure if you were including that.
Thanks for the assist, huskersoftroy! I'll get this prediction baked into the forthcoming match thread.

Hey USC faithful! Here's Friday's thread for the USC/Illinois match:

Among the Outside Hitters likely to receive All-American honors, Ally currently ranks: #1 in blocks per set. (0.82 #19 in kills per set. (3.76) #25 in aces per set. (0.25) #28 in hitting percentage. (.237) #29 in digs per set. (2.01) It’s been said in a few match threads but I’ve seen literally most matches of her college career and this is her best season by far. So happy she chose USC! Hopefully she and Mia can join the long list of Trojans to be named All-Americans. Also if anyone was curious USC is tied with Florida for fifth most individuals to win an All-American award with 33. Only behind Nebraska, Stanford, Penn State, and Texas.

Livings is also quietly doing a lot for this team. As a true freshman 6-ro opposite she’s currently passing 2.15/ 56.4% GP on 110 attempts. (For comparison before Wijay went down she was at 2.06 / 47.5% GP) Livings is also hitting .203 across her last 10 matches.
Just think it’s interesting how she’s stepped up considering all THREE “ball-control” outsides for this team are injured/redshirting. Gonna be fun to see which one emerges as the starter next year.

Well hosting was a fun idea while it lasted lol. Hopefully this team learned something about playing on the road as they’re likely setting up a date with ASU in the first two rounds.
As with the nasty MSU loss, this was a game they could have and should have swept.

Trojans are struggling to close out games. So much potential in that team, but are they being out-coached? What's going on?

It is the same in leagues. Road wins are not easy to get. They are still very dangerous, and I hope Wisconsin is able to get by them in LA.

Congrats to the three Mater-Dei recruits on winning the CIF-SS D1 Championship! They swept Sierra Canyon to repeat as champions. They play in the CIF State Girls Volleyball Championships this week. Mira Costa is playing as well as a 6 seed. If Costa beats their first round opponent (ironically Sierra Canyon, a team they just beat a week ago) we may see some future Trojans going at it! Agreed, I think an upset there would get them back in on the conversation for sure. (it would certainly get them back in my good graces lol.) Personally, my main concern re:ASU would be the passing mismatch. Hopefully they can take down Wisconsin, but after seeing that prison Smrek had Mruzik in…

Our weakness is blocking a good, quick, opposite (see Merritt Beason), so if they get Livings going, it could be a match.

Wisconsin is formidable and is now hitting its stride now that Charlie has developed her connections with her hitters. But I believe that USC does have the type of matchups that exploit certain Wisconsin flaws. Specifically, Wisconsin's front row is a bit slow to close its huge blocking wall on defense, and on offense its serve receive can force them out of system a lot against hot serving teams. Tuaniga runs a very quick offense, feeding an athletic, quick front row. I wouldn't be surprised if USC puts up a real fight in this one.

I’m just not sure how USC is gonna respond to a team who blocks just as well as them.
