LSU 20.Santa Clara More than a little irritated that Nebraska is even mentioned much less ranked. Their two week schedule avoids any good regional teams (aka TCU, LSU), and any east coast teams. When will the NCAA stop letting them use this program to give their indoor program a one week vacation in Hawaii... Oh and playing such power houses as Irvine Community College ... Missouri Baptist .. Chimande. They will play USC and Pepperdine but there should be a balance and something resembling a schedule of a program that has been doing this for 4 years!

Nebraska plays all of the Top 4 teams on this list, and they play 5 ranked teams out of their 11 opponents this season. Really not that unbalanced. After going 6-2 last season, and knocking off Arizona and Grand Canyon, I don't see how Nebraska doesn't deserve to be recognized as one of the most competitive Beach teams this season, no matter what their schedule looks like.

JWO & any athletic big from Nebraska will create a top 10 pair, imho.
LMU without Sponcil & last years seniors seems high on the list.
UCLA seems low on the list as does AZ which has 2 very solid pairs and Stanford gets listed because their Stanford?
Happy to see DIG supporting the sport & athletes with press and competitive analysis, it's all good to get the word out and grow the sport.

...and Stanford gets listed because their Stanford? That may be the reason. Or maybe it's because of Hayley Hodson? They have hired a beach-only assistant (Karissa Cook).

Oh, and this ranking makes a lot more sense than Volleyball Magazine's preseason for Div 1 women's (indoor) VB.

No doubt there are talented players at Stanford. HH & Chang comes to mind as a potential pairing. KH has some beach experience also. This is where the elimination of pairs competition excludes so many great match ups and schools that lack depth but possess a few ballers that would have given their school a shot at glory. I.e. LMU v USC in pairs championship 2015.

The point is that Nebraska Beach schedule does not meet the NCAA varsity minimum scheduling requirements, so they are considered a "club" team. Would be like ranking Vanderbilt's indoor volleyball club team in the SEC/NCAA or ranking an NAIA team in DIG. Washington may have the same scheduling issue, unless their schedule is incomplete at this time. Several teams had non-compliant schedules in the past while Beach was an emerging sport, and nobody really cared. Now that it is a championship sport teams have to actually follow the NCAA rules.

Washington played a short schedule last season (their second), but will be playing a more complete schedule this year, including the Aloha Invitational, a home match (their first, Oregon at Alki), and the Pac-12 Championships. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Rome wasn't built in a day. Very well stated with "more complete". Their schedule is an improvement over past years, and it will meet the NCAA bare minimum standard if there are no match cancellations due to weather during regular season and they make it to final day of PAC12 tournament. Speaking of which, what is the format for the PAC12 tournament? Round robin play? Or double elim with 1 match per day? They have it spanning over 4 days which is the longest I've seen for college Beach.

I think SC still only has 3 courts so that may be why it is so spread out this year.

USC has only three courts but is contemplating knocking out the small building adjacent to the south for more courts. Currently, they play the 5s. 4s. and 6s (exhibition) first and then the 3s,2s and 1s begin about 15 minutes after the first three matches are completed.

LBS A BIT OVER-RATED DUE TO THE LOSS OF 4 OF THEIR ANTICIPATED PLAYERS, ONE TO SEVERE ILLNESS, ONE TO INJURY....PROBABLY NO BETTER THAN TOP 10,,,,,BUT LOOK OUT NEXT YEAR....

The Pac 12 very much wants to keep the pairs competition going (and in doing so making a very deliberate point to the NCAA beach VB committee about the value of a pairs championship), so team championship + pairs championship + three courts = four days of competition.
