Charming. Any other enlightening thoughts? In the World League in 2015 when Brazil got knocked out of the semis, Brazilian fans started to boo the US for no reason. France is the one who actually best Brazil, and yet they cheered for Serbia against the US and booed US players. Then there's the social media treatment U.S. volleyball players have received from Brazilians. And why are we calling Americans the A$$holes here? Because if you travel abroad, there are two groups that are rude above ALL others: the United States and China. If you know a foreign language, pretend you are from that country instead. If you only know English, carry something with a Maple Leaf, know where Toronto is on a map. You'll be happier with your international experience. Brazilians are WAY worse than Americans. Maybe the declining currency has put them out of sight, out of mind. I've yet to be on a flight with a large Brazilian contingent that has been able to board fast enough to leave on time.

Ever hear of the "Ugly American"? It refers to the arrogance of an American who butchers the native language, has no idea of the native customs, and are just plain rude in thinking that they are better than anyone else.
BTW, Argentina is Brazil's biggest rival. The US is next in line.

yeah, the booing isn't aimed just at the usa. wasn't there a russian swimmer who was cleared to compete right before the olympics? she was booed too. (ironically, in part, b/c of controversy fanned by a us swimmer who said the russian shouldn't be allowed to swim b/c of her doping past...) also, it's not just brazilians who love to boo ... americans do it too ... (ok, well these clips are just new york fans ... haha ... but you get it ...) The Chase Utley boo was completely different from any cultural norm and very justified in the eyes of Mets fans everywhere. I was at home booing when they announced him as well, it went well beyond one take out slide though

It's not the dozen kids backpacking or the young couple using EuroRail passes to see a continent. It's the rich white couple. Stereotype? Sure. Sadly, it fits.

Has anyone thought because the general Anerican doesn't care about men's volleyball and we still are a top level team. I'd be upset if some countries 9th sport was competing with our #1

they can't beat the US Volleyball team, so maybe they'll just hold the swimmers hostage until the US loses!

Its been anti-US at all the events I have seen. A lot of people across the World resent America. It comes from being the best. maybe a combination of this and our general arrogance? but i agree with the other poster, Brazilians are very passionate, they love to boo just about anyone. the Bicha chants need to go immediately though.

While true the brazilian fans are "passionate", no excuse to be so disrespectful to other competitors. They flat out were able to fix the men's gymnastics floor final by cheering on their mistakes. The french pole vaulter had horrible treatment as well.
With that said, we really have nothing to stand on considering after watching the US Open tennis finals, Novak Djokovic was unfairly treated on every unforced error made by the New York crowd.

I've been all over the world and have discovered that everyone hates the United States, but everyone wants to live here. Brazilians love americans. I was just there and am married to one. They're rooting against a superpower who is the biggest threat to them winning.
