Anderson should not come back. He is the male version of Destinee Hooker - a drama king. Hopefully Sander will never have a chance again next quad too. where'd this come from?

Do you guys think it's possible for Troy to play OH and keep Anderson as OPP?

Disappointing loss to be sure but we took Italy to 5 with a bunch of first time Olympians. Not bad considering where we were after match 2 in pool play. Very proud of this team and what they accomplished. Congratulations boys! BTW - fascinating collection of comments by 5+ star VT experts.

Yeah, I'm proud they did great coming this far. At the same time, a bit angry for getting my hopes up so high and crushed them to bits. They were so good against Brazil, France, Poland. Where was that mode?

Ben Patch at OPP in 2020? Ok don't be stupid now.. Well that was uncalled for. It's not like I said, "Drew Carey at OPP?"

This US team will benefit greatly from this experience. Holt, Micah, Anderson, and Shoji will almost certainly be the best players at their positions next cycle.
The big question moving forward will be left side. Russell to me, has to be an opposite at this level, and more ball control is required at clutch times from Sander.
Time to give Ivan Zaytsev the credit he deserves. What he did from the line in set 4 was amazing.

Well that was uncalled for. It's not like I said, "Drew Carey at OPP?" Come on man. Murphy Troy and Matt Anderson will be in the prime of their career in Tokyo.

I don't know where he come From, but told the real truth about this match. In set 1 Anderson an easy shot to close it. In set 3, again he had 2 easy chances to take Zaytsev off the service line. He hits too soft and never uses crafty plays. Moreover he is mentally weak, meaning if he fail once or twice starts to make stupid things. Italy had a Lion namely Zaytsev, we had a small cat. During this and other tournaments, he did the same. Forget him as OH, he is an awful passer. Speraw should took off the bench the 2nd OPP, but Troy is a bad choice. Usa need to get now a New Opp. So sorry for Holt, Lee, Christenson, Sander, Shoji and Russell, they didn't deserve this, hope now for bronze. Despite some stubborness, Speraw must keep a great job that he starts.

USA...S U C K. Speraw needs to g-o. Not sure if you can blame Speraw... He actually brought the best team that he could bring. I don't know about the best. Let's say the best that he and his crew wanted.

Anderson has his problems but he's still the best option at opposite, no one in the pipeline comes close. He will be 33 in Tokyo though so hope his play doesn't go down like stanley in London.

I am bummed not because I didn't think we could lose but because these damn teams play with my emotions. The US delivers one of the most dominant set performances and then burns out. Italy is cheating they are playing with a Cuban and a Russian haha kidding. Italy was always capable. Our tendency to go deuce sets against them means there is very little separating these two teams. I am excited for the future all these guys are young with the exception of Lee we have a solid team for the future. I don't know what I would change. Micah's reluctance to go to the BIC late in the match after it has been working all tournament was a headscratcher. Also Speraw needs to use his subs that's why you have a bench. On to Bronze Italy has two of the best hitters in the tournament and Ginaelli is superb. Can't be mad when you lose to a good team. Totally agree. The middle was working and Micah chickened out. Sigh. And definitely needed subs. Speraw needed to realize they were choking. By the way, I think the team needs Sander. He's a great receiver/passer, a very weak area for us. They can't rely on Shoji all the time. It's really weird how the US Men's and Women's team mirror one another in this way. We need to clean up passing. You are right Sander is certainly better than Russel when passing. I am wonder what the relationship is with Jaeschke, cause he seems to never want to put him on court.

I'm not sure Jaeschke is any better. Sometimes he's solid. But he was brought on to sub for Sander in one match here and was shanking left and right.
