Wow. Whether you like him or not, that's an incredibly pathetic thing to say about the man. Why such hate? Oh yeah, it's a medal, not a metal.

I agree. Why such hatred toward Mick? I liked him when he was at UT. And he does have a wife and kids - so why bash him like that in such a trashy way?!? - (Not just hurtful to him but to his family too) I don't get it. WHAT has he done to deserve such animousity? Truly, I'm curious.

IMHO TCB player’s career was over long ago before the OG started. I’m still wondering why she is there as a player but not as an ass. coach as it was said some time ago. If as some people say US is in a transition period why they didn’t give a chance to some younger players (Barboza)? Could it be that the coaching staff overestimating team’s ability and depth misled by the results over the past couple if years decided to take TCB there just to hand her a medal as a merit for her former contributions?

I think you'll find a lot of similarities between the women's volleyball team and the women's soccer team. Some over the hill players that are living off past glory, but aren't at the top of their game anymore and really shouldn't be on the team. It hurt the US women in the soccer world cup, it will hurt them in the Olympics. It's almost out of a sense of loyalty that some players made their respective teams, but in the end, it will hurt the team.

I was contemplating on watching the game tonight (it'll be shown 10:30 pm), but now I don't have to worry about it. What a disappointment for team USA.

Whew. I'm glad someone else mentioned about Lindsay's body shape in here. I was about to but since so many of you are very politically correct I shied away until now. At work while we watched Team USA struggling to win my co-workers mentioned that Lindsay's a bit chuncky and asked me why she's that way(as if I would know) because the sport that they follow and watch (cycling, rowing, gymnastics) those athletes are not pudgy. On top of that they noticed that Kerri, Elaine and especially Holly have lean and muscular bodies they found it odd that Lindsay is as I said pudgy. Since volleyball is a constant moving sport unlike baseball we all wondered why she's that way. Don't get me wrong - she's not like how Carnie Wilson was before Carnie decided to have her stomach stapled. But playing at that level, having a trainer and a nutrionist you wouldn't think that she'd have a body shape like that. As for her volleyball skills at this level, I'm sure she's good otherwise Coach Yoshida wouldn't pick her to be train, travel with the National team and then select her to be on the Olympic team. By what I saw I really couldn't tell how good she is. All she did was set to the left and right side hitters. That's a better phrase than my "lack of depth" analysis, but both are compataible. Was stunned to see Lindsey Berg still so much overweight. I saw her in college and the USPV, but I thought that a year or so on The National Team, with their conditioning program, would get her in shape.

That is her body type. Period. She has long, strong legs and a short torso. If you don't think she is in shape playing with the National Team, you are mistaken. This is also why people continually underestimated her VB ability.

It's just rude. Pudgy?? Give me a break. Pudgy is short and plump. Chubby. Lindsey Berg is not pudgy. Again, you are bashing someone for a body type. I don't know which is worse, this or the comment in the other thread about Logan Tom "finally losing her baby fat." This is an athlete who may very well be anorexic. But what the hell. It doesn't matter how good you are at the game. You had better look good.

WHAT has he done to deserve such animousity? Truly, I'm curious. If you knew anything about how he ran the National Team, how he treated his players, the things that he said and did, you would hate him too. That is, unless you took pity on him for being psychotic. I know some of the players who trained with Micks' National Team program, and other very close to the program.

You've seen Lindsey play for how many years now as someone around the Big 10 volleyball circuit and you've thought she was out of shape all this time? She moves on the court very well for someone that's out of shape. Someone that had to move as much as she did with the passing she had to deal with as a Gopher for 4 years putting up amazingly good sets (especially in her senior year when her primary offense was Steph Hagen in the middle) AND still had the energy to lead the Big 10 in service aces all 4 years primary on very explosive jump serves is someone I wouldn't come even close to calling out of shape. Her body type isn't what you may prefer / want / expect to see in an elite level volleyball player, but that is extremely different than being out of shape or overweight as you phrased it.

Honey, I could be that successful at USC with those loaded guns. Much easier said than done. Plus, could you have recruited all of those "loaded guns"?
