Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (hereinafter, W3WH)
So, I've got a stash where I can store stuff, except I have no idea what I will and will NOT need in the game yet. I remember in other games, I just stored the most useless weapons that I won from a side quest or some stupid trophy or other.

Slow ass game. The early part of the game is mostly tutorial and RPG so things are really moving at a snail's pace. I guess my only complaint is that it's not Shadow of Mordor/War, Dying Light, Horizon Zero Dawn, or Borderlands. The mix I like in my games is 75% breakneck killing spree and 25% plodding exposition, buying/selling crap, and trying out new outfits.
I have a feeling it will get better as this game won numerous awards. We'll see.

Good news: this game has a save-anywhere-save-anytime system. I'm sure there are exceptions but I saved in between missions and within a mission and everything worked fine and dandy. I also got wedged among some vines on a cliff face. So, I saved and exited out. When I reloaded the game, I was no longer wedged in. So, that's good.

Well, it's Christmas break so I started playing Dishonored 2. I've been playing nothing but strategy and turn-based games lately, so I'm trying to wrap my mind around a first-person stealth-shooter again.

Keep track of your save points as your actions and choices in dialog will affect the outcome. Like you I was a little dubious at the beginning. I think the studio is chezk or Polish and that is reflected in the UI. It's now one of my favorite games.

Apparently there was some exploit that involved just killing cows, so they patched in this: !!!!! I had no idea. Awesome.

The Witcher is also a TV series. I haven't watched it. I also haven't played The Witcher 1 or 2 because wrong platform. Only The Witcher 3 is available on the PS4, so I'm starting the entire series on Witcher 3. Not even reading the book.

The Witcher is also a TV series. Multiple TV series, actually. There was a 2002 Polish TV series, and now there is currently a Netflix TV series.

First boss battle. The Griffin. Died 4x already. The crossbow does little damage. Most of the damage is done with my sword at close range, but then I get massively damaged myself because I'm too close. LOL!

Played this for 4 days, off and on, and I’m still in the Prologue section. Not even in Act I yet. LOL! I was doing side quests, exploring, crafting, picking plants, looting, and stuff. Getting more familiar with this game. Things are becoming more and more clear and understandable. At least now, I’m able to switch among the different magic signs during battle.

One thing Different about this game from other games is that I’m limited in how many items I can carry by weight. At the beginning of the game, I’m limited to a total of 60 lbs but I can carry more if I buy better and more saddlebags. Things get interesting when the better items are heavier than the inferior items, e.g., armor. I have to make a decision on what to carry, what to sell, and what to dismantle.
Most games use quantity of items, as in, you can carry only 20 items, which you can upgrade as you progress further. One game, Deus Ex Mankind Divided (and possibly the entire series, I can’t remember) used the size and shape of the items as the limiting factor. You have to be able to fit all your items in a prescribed large rectangle. LOL! So, you can carry a lot of smaller items but only so many larger items like sniper rifles.

So, I’ve developed a go-to move which has worked out relatively well for me recently. I attack with Axii, which is a magic spell (aka Delusion) that slows down my opponent, and then I do a heavy (strong) strike which would either kill him outright or severely damage him. Then, I finish with some fast strikes.
In Shadow of War, the bad guys would always make fun of me when I’ve been using the same set of moves over and over again. During battle, I’d use my go-to move and the bad guy would taunt me with, “Ha! Pathetic! Your go-to move won’t work against me!” Very irritating.

Yes, all the Deus Ex games (or at least the original Deus Ex and Human Revolution--I never played Invisible War) are like that. System Shock 2 also bases its inventory on the size of item, as do some other games like Betrayal at Krondor (a great RPG from the mid-90s). Deus Ex in particular made me laugh when there was a gun taking up eight inventory spaces when it sure looked like it could have fit in less if it was placed a little differently. I thought that JC Denton must be the world's least economical packer, and then Adam Jensen was even worse in Human Revolution (I still haven't played Mankind Divided yet). Anyway, I kind of like this type of inventory system, as it forces you to make some sacrifices and not just carry a million things around.

My biggest complaint with Deus Ex Human Revolution and Mankind Divided games is that the map "looks" big but it's incredibly incredibly small. Maybe 4 or 5 blocks of Detroit in HR and 7 or 8 in MD. Very claustrophobic feel.
