I'm nearing the end of Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. There's still a lot of side quests that I haven't done because I've been waiting to get to max level first (the equipment rewards are scaled to your current level), but I don't think I'll bother for a while. Overall, it's a fun game. It made a lot of quality-of-life upgrades over the previous Borderlands games, though Borderlands 2 is still my favorite. I'll go back to Guardians of the Galaxy when I'm done.

I finished the main story of Tina Tina's Wonderlands last night. In some ways, it's the best Borderlands game. It has a lot of quality-of-life improvements over previous games. It also has a lot of variety in its classes and spells. I played the Spellshot class, which is basically a mage class. I then multi-classed with the Graveborn class, which uses dark magic. These two classes synergize with each other really well because the Spellshot class allows you to equip two spells instead of the normal one, and the Graveborn class has skills that regenerate your shield and health whenever you cast a spell. It also has other buffs to spell damage and cooldown as well as a companion that casts another spell at the enemy that is the same element of spell that was just cast. I mostly used meteor-type spells of different elements (e.g. frost, fire, dark magic) with multiple charges and fast cooldowns. This let me cast spells almost whenever I wanted.
For my weapon, I relied primarily on a quest reward that did poison damage and was very powerful. The vending machines would sometimes sell these and other quest rewards as the "item of the day," so I could upgrade it every five levels or so to keep up with the higher-level enemies. I had some other weapons equipped, but they were mostly to deal with any enemies that were resistant to poison damage or because they had passive buffs to my damage due to enchantments. Overall, I thought the game was a bit on the easy side, though not so easy that it was boring (see: Kingdom Hearts 3). The story wasn't anything special, but it was fine, and I'm not really playing Borderlands games for their stories anyway. I think BL2 is still the best overall game in the series.

i still don't have one. may have to work on that.
lies of p finally arrived in the mail today.
lies of p is challenging. the game developers really, really want players to utilize the parry mechanic. not a big fan of parrying, but don't have much of a choice

I returned to Guardians of the Galaxy and played through a couple more chapters. Based on chapters, I'm halfway through the game.

I beat Guardians of the Galaxy, and it was really good. The main story is pretty strong, and the gameplay is fun. The combat feels a tad on the easy side by the end of the game, but that's because you have all of your guardian abilities unlocked, including the most powerful ones that have a separate cooldown from the others. In the later chapters, you can just spam your abilities, and most fights are over quickly. The boss fights are longer and more challenging but still quite manageable. The best part of the game is the interactions between your team members, both as you're doing missions, and when you're on the ship together. It reminds me a bit of Final Fantasy XV, which also had the same primary strength. By the end of that game, you really feel like you're the fifth member of the party. Overall, I'd give GotG a 9/10. It's not God of War: Ragnarok, but there isn't much that I disliked and a lot that I really liked.

Marvel's Midnight Suns is coming to PS Plus Extra next week. I look forward to trying it out to see if the gameplay is as good as everyone has said it is and if the writing is as mediocre as many have said it is (it seems that some people like it, but I saw that mostly among ardent fans of the game).

I've been playing Rayman Legends, which was a PS Plus game a while back. I've heard good things about it, and my brother said it's one of the best platformers that he's played. I was in the mood for something a little light before I jump into another story-heavy game. I really like it so far. It has a ton of levels with a lot of design variety. There's a bunch of different characters, though they all play pretty much the same. It's still nice for cosmetic reasons. The gameplay is fun and feels fair for the most part. I've run into a couple that are very tough, but it seems that with enough skill and practice, they're doable.

finished spiderman 2 on PS5. it was a fun game, but some of the mechanics were a bit clunky (having to position characters and the camera angle in the right position to open loot crates, etc). and i wasn't a fan of a lot of the boss characters - i should say that i don't like most big bads, it just feels like a health meter grind that take a lot of time to complete.

Had you played the first game and/or Miles Morales first? The gameplay in both is very good, though the boss fights were not as fun as the normal encounters. I haven't played Spiderman 2 yet because I don't have a PS5, and it could be a while yet before I get one.

I was about to suggest playing them in order, but I'm guessing Spiderman 2 spoiled the stories of both games.

Larian Studios has announced they will not be making any expansions for BG3. Nor will they be making a BG4.
The issue may be that BG3 has made Hasbro (owners of the D&D brand) more than $90M in licensing. Perhaps Larian figures that for their next game, they should make all that money for themselves.

Makes sense. I'd imagine they might be looking at making a Divinity: Original Sin 3. Edit: actually, they said that won't be their next project. So perhaps a brand new IP.
