Does anybody really think Kerri's Chicago boycott was because of the rule changes? I think she was totally burnt out by the brutal lead up to the Olympics and the stress of the two weeks in Rio and just needed a physical and mental break. Pretty understandable, particularly for a mother of three. If she had just faked an injury (stomach muscle is always a good one) like every other professional athlete, instead of using this rules thing as an excuse, nobody would have blinked. Yes, I do. Fair enough, I've been wrong before. Speaking of the rules, is AVP keeping any of those changes?

April and Kerri played one event in the month before the Olympics, then played once every two days for two weeks. If they needed a physical break they shouldn't be professional athletes

Kerri COULD have opted out because she was "burnt" GLRA", but I cannot imagine a good Catholic girl going to all that trouble to lie about it, hurt promoters (though everyone is SOLD on her wanting to do that; I'm not...), etc. when she could have just said "the grind at my age took its toll, yada-yada-...." or other self deprecating comment to rest, IF that in fact was needed....Oh well...probably drilling down too far on this Completely speculative topic....

Kerri was pissed about two things: One, that she was not consulted about it in advance; Two, the rule itself. She decided to boycott the event, and tried to get other players to join her (which led to a series of heated, albeit entertaining, texts/emails between the Walsh-Jennings' and other players).

Oh really? Huh, I never knew there were emails involved. I thought Kerri just had announced her decision on her facebook page and left it at that.

Pro basketball players play every 2 days for 7 months straight.

I was speculating that it was a ruse because it just seemed so stupid to boycott over what were pretty minor rule experiments. I did enjoy her facebook post, since removed, where she likened her and Casey's stance to Ghandi's opposition to British imperialism.

A little late to the conversation, but as I remember it: Kerri decided to boycott Manhattan after Casey's request for a wildcard entry for a partner was denied by the AVP...

I am still amazed that this thread is continuing. The people that think Kerri is a terrible selfish person will allways think that. I don't feel the need to stick up for her. Her career & the way she lives her life speaks for itself. Once again...I would gather that she doesn't give a damn what any of us says or thinks. This post started Kerri -Tokyo...Continues on the path of The Kerri Boycott of Chicago. Time to let it go & move on to AVP 2017!!!!👊🙌

Couldn't agree more with bvballler...My only response to greenpier is most of these comments are speculative, possibly correct, possibly wrong...I know, from years of experience GLRA appears to be close to the action, so I do take his reflections more seriously, of course...From teaching a class in Customer service for a few years, I realize how poorly we humans do at interpreting the behavior of others....and with that, I go with bvballer's last post...

Perhaps GLRA could weigh in there, with regards to how Kerri is seen by the other players

I have no issue with Kerri, I do have a problem when influential people who are trying to grow a particular sport drop the ball for no reason.
