If Kerri and April split for whatever reason, who could either team up with realistically to do well on the FIVB? Please don't say Sarah Pavan.

Either Claes or Hughes for April and Hughes for Kerri. A few others that APril or Kerri could drag to the occasional semi and get a lot of 5ths with. Its a shame Kerri isnt in her prime anymore. Id love to see Kerri at her best try to win with someone like Brooke or Lane. For a while she could pay with anyone decent and win - the Rachel win stands out for example - but at this point in her career I dont think she can still do that

This article is why a lot of people hate the media. The writer presents Kerri negotiating for more money - nothing wrong with that - as a dispute about player's rights. It also shades what happened last year to present Kerri in a positive light. "A one-woman boycott" would be more accurate if it said, "which all other women's players refused to join." And rule changes that "she said were made without consulting athletes" is very misleading because players were consulted. Just not Kerri. Donald Sun was obviously contacted for this article, since he is quoted, and if asked he would certainly mention that there were players consulted. So either the writer accepted Kerri's statement at face value or misrepresented the truth.

It is clearly a release by kerri's camp, or her agent LA to spin her side of the story and put her back under a bright shinning star of 6' of sunshine .
Doesn't do much for April nor mention her as a possible playing partner.
On the same day on social media she placed herself at a luxury resort in OC running a clinic for youth. Who can afford to take there kid to a $500+ a day spot for a beach clinic?
Can you say "spin city".... the media is so easily duped or bought these days and with no brain or effort to research a story. Kinda like the trans saying he/she is trying out for the Olympic team.

Wow, did not know just how deep this "divide" seemed to run. That said, this is definitely a bargaining tacit: leak the news to the press, put pressure on the AVP, etc. Still, the fact that (publicly speaking at least), there doesn't seem to be any other players having a similar disputes kinda makes this whole thing seem a bit much. Kerri is one of the, if not THE, face of the league- how can you talk about Tokyo and growing game if your just going to skip the domestic tour? Seems, just to me, to do more damage to the sport then good. What's wrong with the current contract? Genuinely curious.

I think we are all still forgetting that this is a business and some players livelihood. I also thought right from the beginning that rift between DS & Kerri had to do with more than just rule changes. I already had a friend cancel their first AVP event They were going to after reading this news because they were going to meet Kerri for the 1st time. Hope they can work it out!!!
The only question I have regarding this story is why Kerri & April have decided to stay together when this obviously has been a possibility since who knows when. There doesn't seem like there is any way that April can jump from AVP to FIVB with different partners & be successful. I know she's good but seems unrealistic...🤔🤔🤔🤔

I know she's good but seems unrealistic...🤔🤔🤔🤔 Its pretty clear now this is a money and pride issue. Kerri wants to get paid and kowtowed to. Why Kerri and April stay together seems pretty simple. Both want to win more than almost anything and on the FIVB there isnt another American either can do so consistently with. We have become one of those tiny countries where slightly mismatched players have to stay together because there isn't anyone else. As to different AVP and FIVB partners, April did that with no issue in 2015. The AVP is so weak now that any lack of chemistry April may have with a part time partner is not going to be a huge obstacle as long as it isnt a situation like Chicago where she doesnt have any lead time to find someone decent.

Guest 2....With the AVP tour beginning in 33 days, isn't everyone decent already taken? Or will a decent player jump ship to play with April?

I wonder how much Kerri makes in endorsements vs. FIVB vs. AVP? What fraction of her income actually depends on AVP?
There may be some good players around who would be happy to partner with April for the AVP but don't want the hassle of international travel for the FIVB.
And partner switches can happen any time.

Is it safe to say that there may be some unhappy sponsors if this doesn't get resolved before Huntington Beach? Any when I say sponsors I mean on both the AVP side & Kerris personal/corporate sponsorships?

If its one tournament then maybe you stick with your regular partner, but if its the full AVP season? If you are Fopma, or Fendrick or Summer, or really anyone other than Claes/Hughes, you chance to win goes from maybe 10% maximum with your regular partner - assuming April is playing -to 75-80% with April. Thats a switch I think any player would be hard pressed to refuse. The last time April played with Jen they won 3 of 4. Id say a season with April is worth around 15,000 to any one of those players, plus if you are April's AVP partner and Kerri gets hurt - which is very likely for a 38 year old with serious injury history, you will likely be next up for FIVB events

I know her appearances in recent years have been glorified cameos but how awesome would it be to see April partnering with Misty on the AVP and Kerri internationally. (even if only for a couple events)

150% chance that Misty does NOT play with April or Kerri for that matter. Why do you think that we haven't seen Misty remotely close to many AVP events since retiring? Not seeing the $$$$......

I also think the level of play is going to be tremendous on the AVP this year esp on womens side. April will not be able to pick up anyone & fly through each tournament.
"Don't believe everything you hear. Lies spread quicker than the truth". Saw this on Kerri's Social Media yesterday!! Thought it was interesting....
