I expect most thought it would be a battle between USC and UCLA. Don't know what happened to the Bruins, but they really collapsed. Always going to be big mouthed parents around, regardless of the sport or age of the players. Next season USC won't be the favorite right out of the gate, but they will be tough with an amazing frosh class stepping in to become legends of their own. West coast will still have the teams to beat, but as more and more schools open up the sport, top talent will be far more diversified. The top schools will draw the best players though, that's just the way it works.

I would have bet my car on the belief that UCLA and USC would meet in the Championship finals, great job Trojans and i hope this humbles a very smug trash talking sports parent with twins by the name of Sean. Great Competition out there who knows who will prevail next year, cant wait to see. What did Sean say?

IMO, with the addition of Sponcil, UCLA will open as the favorites. Also, Eff Pepperdine and their blatant cheating. Uh, that's all I got. Carry on. You mean sandbagging and not playing their pairs in the correct order, or something else? Exact same thing Pepperdine got busted for last year - having team members stand behind the opponents and relay hand signal calls to their Pepp teammates on the court. Caught in the act again this year - the NCAA ended up posting observers on the courts to make sure sign stealing didn't continue. Then there's the Pepp parents sh#t talking other players during matches, but that's another story. I've come to have zero respect for that program, and Nina can't retire soon enough for me.

That's a CS move, and hopefully the NCAA observers escorted the violators, players or not, out of the courts. I didn't know that it is also happened last year, and maybe the NCAA should step in and issue an official warning. Happens again the school gets probation, loss of scholarship, or something.

Excellent matches, and congratulations to USC for the continuing championship run. Pepperdine can hold their heads high, and be very excited for next season where they may open with the number 1 ranking. IMO, with the addition of Sponcil, UCLA will open as the favorites. Also, Eff Pepperdine and their blatant cheating. Uh, that's all I got. Carry on. I was wondering what happened to her. She is such a god talent but I haven't heard anything about her last few years. She doesn't play avp qualifiers, nothing except the U21 with van widen I beleve. Does anyone know if she has a focus towards indoor or beach?

It was amazing for the entire dual to come down to such an epic battle of the 5's, who aren't used to having the spotlight on them. Both teams played great and would have been deserving whichever way it played out. Especially consiserining it was the #5s, I thought for sure the nerves would get one of the teams. But it was well-played and it seemed like it could go forever. Regarding the FSU 5's team, number 34 is senior Hailey Luke who set for the indoor team for the past four seasons. She's been in plenty of matches where the spotlight was on her and is use to being in nerve wracking situations. Counting indoor and sand/beach, she might have more post-season tournament experience than any of these girls.

Can I just say how impressed I am with how Hawai'i compete's with the kind of budget of the Bowl conferences even though they are a mid-major school. It's never easy to find the resources to travel with a huge entourage, the travel costs alone are incredible. In the end, it takes a village to get schools to this point. It's a struggle without great support.

Eventually, more Power 5 teams will sponsor the sport and it'll be tough to compete yet again.

Hawaii has a draw for beach volleyball players like no other school. After all, it's BEACH volleyball. I think Hawaiis biggest advantage is among indoor players looking to complete a fifth year of eligibility, like Carly Kan or Karissa Cook.

Agreed Hawaii and Pepp will always be in the Hunt, but USC and UCLA will always get most of the top talent. It will be like most NCAA sports where realistically there's only 5-6 teams with a any chance of a title. By the way a lot of P5 schools will probably never take this sport seriously PSU for example and Nebraska, Illinois etc.

We'll see... the more Power 5 schools start programs, the more enticing it'll be for recruits to attend schools with better facilities, academics, and stipends - all of which Hawaii can't compete.
Pepperdine, altho not a Power 5, is a private school located in one of the wealthiest spots in SoCal with solid backing. They have pretty awesome facilities.
Even as a Hawaii fan, I know there will always be have and have nots.

I can understand players going to Hawaii to play, its beautiful and the beaches are amazing. Once there though, you realize that you're on an island, and expensive island. You can drive from 1 end of your world to the other in 1-2 hours. It really collapses on you in short order. Still pretty though.
