Based on a team's best 8 finishes in the last 365 days.
For men's, the confirmed 8 are: Dalhausser/Lucena (USA) Evandro/Andre (Brazil) Kantor/Losiak (Poland) Krasilnikov/Liamin (Russia) Alvaro Filho/Saymon (Brazil) Lupo/Nicolai (Italy) Doppler/Horst (Austria) Herrera/Gavira (Spain)
For women's, the confirmed 8 are: Larissa/Talita (Brazil) Laboureur/Sude (Germany) Pavan/Humana-Paredes (Canada) Agatha/Duda (Brazil) Hermannová/Sluková (Czech Republic) Heidrich/Verge-Dépré (Switzerland) Kolocova/Kvapilova (Czech Republic) Sweat/Summer (USA)
This means Alison/Bruno will not make the event because there are already two Brazilian men's teams in the top 8. There will be probably be two more German men's teams for the wild cards. Women's, Ludwig/Walkenhorst will probably be a wildcard and hopping really hard that USA gets a wildcard too!

So the Czech Republic has two Top 8 women teams? Tied only with Brazil.
Funny how much volleyball you can watch and still miss things like this.

Only knew about Hermanova and Slukova the entire season haha!! I wouldn't mind if Hyden/Doherty got a wildcard too!

Or, are you going to choose a team that has a player with 2 Olympic medals and a silver medal at last week's World Championship?

At first glance you would say that April/Lauren get it but neither is really a must have, but on closer examination, April/Lauren have actually played a very similar season to Laura/Kira, i.e. losing a lot due to injuries (a more favorable interpretation for April/Lauren) and then rallying to take down some top teams once healthy. If that last 15 point game goes another way, we would be saying April/Lauren were a shoo in. (I think absent an injury there was little chance it would have, but nevertheless)

Yes, Kelly and Sara have placed 5th and it's only their first year on tour after college graduation, but its world tour finals, not just a regular tour stop.

Ludwig/Walkenhurst 100% in, no one can see a path for them NOT to be picked.. Do we think they go down to 15 for Ross/Fendrick? Or down to a T16 for SH/KC?

I think would only be fair to have simply the TOP 12 ranked teams even if a country has 3,4,5 or 12 teams in the TOP 12. It is not fair for Allison/Bruno (7) and Pedro/Guto (9). Barbara/Fernanda (6) Clay/Hughes (12).
And OK...in the case the hosting country does not have a team in the TOP 12, I would be fine in replacing the #12 ranked team with a host team.

It's fair because the rules state out that only 2 teams per country, per gender, including wild cards. It's very obvious that Germany will use two of the wild cards for men's on two German teams and one wildcard for Ludwig/Walkenhorst since Labordeuer/Sude are already in the top 8. It's like how in Olympics there's 2 teams max from each country per gender. And Canada who hosted the finals last year also used two wild cards for each gender for the Canadian teams
