They have my vote also. Best choice for both ladies considering the options. Summer Sweat was the most consistent second place team on tour, no matter who they faced in the final. Lol..

I hate the "all that matters is the Olympics" perspective, but I am surprised that Kelly Claes doesns't get more mention here for April in 2020. I think April and Sara could split block, but April/Kelly may have more long term potential. Kelly has great potential as a server/hitter/blocker and I think as a team, she and April would maybe have more long term potential than April/Sara.

Sara and Kelly seem very much together and closed off to any other partnerships besides to two of them together. If Sara wasn’t on bridesmaids duty for her sister’s wedding, it was mentioned somewhere that Sara and April would be playing together for Qinzhou. But because Sara was busy, Kelly subbed in instead. I thought April and Kelly would at least make it to the medal rounds, but one game in, they were already out due to single elimination.

Any US player other than Sara and Kelly would commit to her right now if she offered them a year's commitment. That goes for defenders or blockers. April is still the best available option for anyone as long as Kerri is out

Well so far she has practiced with Sara Hughes, Kelly Claes, Alix Klineman & now Summie, if not others. This makes sense for April to find a new partner. However, you have to wonder if she threw Hughes under a bus, basically not trying at the last Norcecca. Some fans watching said it was a joke. No jump serve, 5 or more float serves into the net, 4 or more hubby/wives drop right next to her, zero blocks or touches. Then in another week or so she flies off to China with Kelly and is one and done with her. In a 2 Star, you would think they should have walked away with. I say stay with Brooke, Summer. April seems to have a lack of focus and determination. Let her seek out Jen or Kerry or Whitney or Alix. This is so silly. April is easily the best player in the United States right now. She carried Fendrick to SECOND PLACE IN THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS last season. If she calls, Summer would be a fool not to answer.

Summer is an average blocker on FIVB, April is probably a bit under average defender. They've both worked best when they've had a specialist partner, either blocker or defender as needed. Unless they plan to just bomb jump serves and split block, I like them with other players.

Agree entirely if there were specialist players at anywhere near their levels. US is so weak now that there aren't any. Brooke is closest, but I'd rather have April digging 7 balls a game than Brooke digging 10-12, because between serve, siding out, and converting April still comes out ahead. Not close to optimal partners for either woman though

Not close to optimal partners for either woman though Not optimal because there's no Misty May or (healthy) Kerri Walsh. But given the other options, it's the best either could do right now and Summer would be foolish not to drop Brooke is she gets the call. I also like the team more than jbsouthpaw does. Summer has steadily improved as a blocker, she sides out great, is the best U.S. setter by a wide margin, and scores points off of her jump floater.

Plummer doesn't graduate until 2020. Or are you suggesting Plummer leave Stanford a couple of years early?
