Will a Ross X2 partnership happen??
April posted on IG that she’s ready for a new chapter but didn’t explain what.
Thought Summer and Brooke were sticking together though.

Well so far she has practiced with Sara Hughes, Kelly Claes, Alix Klineman & now Summie, if not others.
This makes sense for April to find a new partner.
However, you have to wonder if she threw Hughes under a bus, basically not trying at the last Norcecca. Some fans watching said it was a joke. No jump serve, 5 or more float serves into the net, 4 or more hubby/wives drop right next to her, zero blocks or touches.
Then in another week or so she flies off to China with Kelly and is one and done with her. In a 2 Star, you would think they should have walked away with.
I say stay with Brooke, Summer. April seems to have a lack of focus and determination. Let her seek out Jen or Kerry or Whitney or Alix.

The young Polish team who took April and Kelly in the 3* event in Qinzhou also took out Brooke and Summer in the semifinals, let’s not forget. Although I would love to see April and Kerri Walsh again, it just doesn’t seem likely, unfortunately.

Hard to figure this one out...LOVE Brooke, but not sure she can put it away as needed on the FIVB tour, but still kind of a believer on Summer/Brooke....We'll see...Now, for April, no idea who would work...STILL want answered: WHY is there no talk of Kerri playing the WRONG SIDE during the Olympics and underperforming which is what we ALL DO when we switch to our "bad side"....Beuller ?

Summer was the best US player last year (since injuries derailed KW and AR). If Hughes/Claes stick together, probably April's best option other than going young and trying to develop someone.
The trouble is both of these ladies are very slow. Should be a solid sideout team but will struggle to score. I wonder if they would split block or would Summer block full time

Kerri played on her bad side for 3 1/2 years with April and they did well. They were mowing teams down in the Olympics before that semi final match where Brazil was clearly more prepared for. They couldn't just switch sides in a middle of a match in the Olympics in my opinion. I'm going to call that semi final the way I saw it: PRESSURE to get to the Gold Medal match was just too much. Even the best has horrible matches.

2018 will be a testing phase.. I am still calling April & Sara in 2020...April wants that Gold Medal..Other than an extremely healthy Kerri, Sara is her only option for Gold! April doesn't want another Silver or Bronze!!

Partner switch at the beginning of the year which actually turned out being the best thing for her given Kerri’s injury...2. Her 1st significant injury herself in a while....3. And her personal issues off the sand....I think all in all she had a better year than most would have.

For sure, that’s suddenly partner change right before the full swing of the season was indeed stressful. So many unknowns but nothing she could do. If she and Kerri would have medaled in Ft. Lauderdale, maybe the outcome would have been different. The toe injury was devastating for sure, but as she said, the timing turned out just right as she was almost back 100% by the time World Champs rolled around. If her toe injury had happened later than when it did at NYC AVP, she might have missed out on World Champs. I’m sure she’s proud of the silver medal at World Champs, but at the same time, she’s hungry and determined for more!!

When I was playing the "pick their partner game" as is common for most fans, I thought Ross/Ross would be the optimum team for both girls. Summer got the most out of Brooke, but Im sure that peaked. April is coming to the end of it and needs to make a run with the best possible option. Sara is by far the player with the most upside for future USA volleyball, but April would have to block full time and that alone would negate much of her best weapon; the jump serve. Although I am not sure how either of them pull it off (speed factor being key), they are both very effective players and might just click. Summer's block always amazes me how often those long arms contact swings. Her timing has gotten much better over the years. Although April is nowhere near Ludwig or Larrisa, she managed to get to balls behind Kerri and possibly can with Summer. Summer being a full time blocker also allows her to score off her jump serve and she also may be the best and most accurate hand setter on American soil. And maybe the best quality is that they are both very comfortable and prolific on going on two. Sometimes in sports, partnership just thrive as if they were in the hands of the gods.

You WIN on this one (never thought of that 3 1/2 years)....Obviously in hindsight they should have switched ASSUMING that was the problem and you've made a good enough case that it wasn't...Oh well....

They lost in three to, I think, Pardon/Ledoux.
