Congrats on another well deserved 'ship. I have to say though, you guys have had more than a healthy share of final fours/national championships the past handful of years. And stole Kennedi Orr away from us. At this point, the Huskers = the Yankees of college volleyball, thus, I'm rooting big time for Nebraska to take a backseat for the next few years not only in the big ten but nationally (although I have serious doubts that it will actually happen). Enjoy this one, BR Nation. No one - Cook, the players, or the fans - expected this championship. I am just awed at how far they came as a team. Last year, after the disaster in the semis, everyone was presuming that it would be another three years before anyone could seriously talk about making a run. No one is expecting much next year - unless Hames happens to be a better Carlini.

You said we couldn’t hang with “real teams,” but we took out #1, #2, #4, and #5 on our way to winning No. 5. Cook started believing in the team’s potential after the first Penn St. match, but the players knew they could win the title after the first weekend. Your comment about Hames needing to be better than Carlini is setting the bar fairly low. How many Final Fours and National Championships did Carlini win?

If Hames is as good or better than Carlini as a freshman, then Nebraska might have a chance next year. Find me anyone - ANYONE - who, before the season began, thought Nebraska would win the title this year.

I am already crying at the fact that Kelly Hunter won't be a Husker next season...so weird to even think about!!! Same.

I hope Carlini doesn't get discouraged with her recent shortcomings. She's as pure-a setter as they come. At the beginning of the season, it was all Texas and Stanford.

Will be interesting to see how the dynamic changes on team. Guessing Foecke and Maloney could be the co-captains. We will be a pretty young team with only 2 upper classmen. Leadership is a real question for this team, IMO. Foecke and Maloney are great picks for captains, IMO. May even throw in Jazz Sweet in there.

And you're comment about the "Carlini bar" being set very low is beyond ridiculous. Do you know how many world class athletes, hall of famers have never won a championship on a big stage? Plenty. SMH.

While I know she'll just be a freshman and it remains to be seen whether or not she'll win the starting job at setter (I believe she will), as demonstrated at the Under Armour AA match on Friday, Nicklin Hames has outstanding leadership qualities. She won't be a captain as a freshman, but if she's the starting setter there won't be a lack of leadership on the court.

I don't think lightning will strike twice. This will be an actual rebuilding year for the Huskers. I see them finishing at least 3rd in the Big behind Wisconsin and Minnesota.

I think Nebraska will be in the hunt next year! We got some great coaches here in Nebraska; just hope that Hildebrand and Banwarth stay a few years! GO HUSKERS

This realist saw a team that had been smothering the competition with their serve game. Realistically, it was a no brainer.

I think Nebraska fans need to get a little more educated on the future recruits coming in to Lincoln for 2018 season, THEY ARE LOADED GUNS! Nebraska will play 3/4 freshman next season, and it will be a reload. I expect another final 4 run next season for them.
Cap Davis - to replace Anni Hames - to replace Hunter Miller - to replace Townsend
2nd MB position could be a toss as well!
Those newcomers are lethal for NEB. Expect another title run! Archive this post!
