We need another OH to fill Albrecht’s spot. That’s the big hole we have in our lineup. Hames will be the Setter. She’s very good but there will be growing pains I’m sure. I’m hoping we can get a transfer hammer to come in and take Boender’s scholarship. Capri Davis could be the hammer to take the place of Albrecht. However, we can’t afford to count on a freshman to do that but it sure would be nice! 😎 Perhaps we could move one of the 3 middles outside. I don’t know about that though. Maybe Szabo or Sweet could move to the other side? Can Slaughter step into Anni’s spot? We have some flexibility and time to work things out before the B1G season begins. A good transfer would alleviate some headaches though. Some of you all must have never seen cap davis play? Its a treat. Sweets been training for the 6 rotations exepected in 18. But transfers could change that. Nebraska looking for another ds transfer. Can I get a height check on Davis please? Lol. The UA All-American match lists her at 6'3", but on the Husker Recruiting Thread, we have her listed at 6'1".

We need another ds player the most. Between Capri Davis and Slaughter we should come up with a solid or better second outside hitter on the left. I’m not sold if Densberger is the answer for the second DS spot. Right now her role is as maybe one of the six servers Nebraska puts on the floor in 2018. Nebraska has to replace 3of it’s six servers in 2018. Pretty big hole. The second middle looks solid. How does McClellan compare to Stivrins last year at this time? I know that John Cook thought in practice last year, Stivrins might of been Nebraska’s best middle. McClellan is going to be really good - and played with Nicklin in TN. I wish she would have red-shirted this season. Mclellan is great defensively... but she needs to work on her offense. Her contact still has plenty of work ahead of itself.

The season is over. So, when the preparations for the 2018 seasons starts? Do they take a couple of weeks/months off from the volleyball gym/court? S&C work is usually in full swing by the end of next month. They’ll get maybe 3 weeks off and the grind begins again working with Husker Power. After that, preparation for the beach season gets going.

This series of posts is from the Big 10-2018 thread, but probably fits better here: Jazz Sweet is actually a great passer, and the coaches plan to have her play all six rotations next year. I believe she’ll turn out to be a better passer than Sydney Townsend by the end of next year. Also, teams hardly served Anni over her career... IMO, Nebraska doesn’t need to be an exceptional passing team next year to be successful when we’ll have Nicklin Hames, who is a surgeon for her precision and accuracy. Plus, our L2 attack next season will be more efficient and dynamic with OOS balls. If Sweet ends up successfully playing 6 rotations (along with Foecke), then they only need one DS (for the other OH). Densberger and Megan Miller are the most likely candidates to fill that role. Whichever one doesn't take the DS spot would compete with Atherton to be the serving sub for the 2nd MB. My guess is that Miller will be the L2’s DS. Densberger is a fabulous floor defender (the Minnesota match comes to mind!), but her passing needs to improve. Fortunately, both will have Banwarth to guide their development.

Its not hard to predict. Nebraska has a scholarship available. Cook would only take a transfer if it would improve his team, ie the player has to be better than what they already have. They already have a lot of top notch players. Therefore, it will be a high profile transfer.

But rarely do you hear about it days after the season ends because of NCAA guidelines and rules. It's an awfully short period to receive the paperwork and waiver needed for Cook to be talking to prospective transfers. Not impossible, but the prospective student's current athletic director needs to grant permission and that usually take some time. And that current athletic director doesn't have to grant a waiver in the first place.

Don't incoming transfers - especially really good ones - visit a couple schools first? Holman and Robinson visited Nebraska before transferring in and I know Nwanebu at least visited Lincoln before picking Texas. That would happen in January, I'd bet.

I’m not necessarily speaking about this prospect transfer, but there have been recruits and transfers, who were scheduled to visit other schools but cancelled after stepping foot on UNL’s campus and visiting the Devaney.

I don't doubt you. I'd just be surprised that the timeline moved this quickly.
Care to drop a hint about who it might be?

Well, I'm sure that AD is doing everything he can to keep the best player at home, which makes me question these conversations happening so early. It's not the coach, even if fired or interim, who decides if a player can talk to other teams, it's the AD.

It's fun stuff though to ponder until next season starts!!
