The loss stings, I especially feel for Mikaela and Kenzie but I also think this loss lights a fire. Hames will have another year under her belt and Stivrins will be all-world. I now do believe Sun will be better with a full year playing (was a little skeptical initially). I also think the next Kenzie up will be an able replacement for the original Kenzie. Schwarzenbach will be alright once she gets some confidence (some time in the weight room would help also. The only thing I'm slightly worried about is who does replace Mikaela, she brought so much to the game.

Not even really worried about leadership. I'm just glad Hames, Stivrins and to some extent Sun were here while MF and KM set the expectations. I do believe it will be carried over in spades.

Does anyone know if Kenzie has any plans to play professionally? I wish. I honestly think her athleticism and serve reception skills would help her transition but she was to be a GA with DBK according to an article. Maybe Karch can get her in a NT gym with the Pan Am team or something so she can get a taste and see if she wants to keep playing

I would love to see Maloney keep playing, but if her goal is to coach and she's going to get an immediate GA spot with DBK and Louisville, she has to take it. That will fast-track her to a P5 AC spot in a couple years.
Foecke on the other hand, needs to keep playing. She will make great money overseas. Veterinary school will be there when her career is over.

At the post-match press conference, Cook said something along the lines of, over the past three years, Nebraska has gone 57-3 in the months of November and December. Actually, I don't recall the exact number of wins he cited, but 3 being the number of losses, I do. Is that right? That would mean 1 loss in November to go along the December loss yesterday and the tournament loss in 2016. That would be quite a record.

That is correct, they lost to Minnesota at the Pav in 2016 on the last night of the regular season in 5 sets, to Texas in the Final Four in 2016, and last night to Stanford. That's it.

Attackers and blockers do what they do, but great Liberos/DSs can take matches to transcendent levels, e.g., Hentz and Maloney, Miller. The battle between Megan and Kenzie-the-Second to be Kenzie-the-First's successor will be great, but either way we end up with 3 really good floor defenders (+Densberger). Farewell Ms Maloney, thank you......

Hey huskergeek , if you need help setting up a forum, I'd be willing to help. Work at flywheel/wordpress, so I could help you out on that end if you were thinking about going that route. If not and you just need some html help, I can do that also.

I am a general VB fan that tuned in to watch the semis and finals. Had a question for Neb fans.
It seems that Neb had a hard time getting out of the rotation when Sun/Swartzenback (spelling, sorry) were on the net for 2 of the 6 rotations. Lauren/MF are next to each other and thus together for 2 of 6 rotations. MF and Lauren seem to be the 2 best hitters, by far. Thus, I was wondering why they are not split up and MF/Swartz are paired and Lexi/Lauren are next to each other in order to perhaps balance the offensive somewhat. There were times in the semis when Sun/Swartz were up front and I was thinking...oh boy, how are they going to get a point as neither seem like they are that confident of a hitter at this point in their careers where as Lauren & MF just RIP the ball.
I was also wondering why MF does not start out on the net at the start of the game in order to get more overall swings as the game goes along. I realize that the overall point is to have the setter in the back serving but still, such as BIG difference when she is up front. Just did not understand it from a strategy standpoint.
Anyhow, seeing if someone that followed the Huskers could provide some perspective to a casual fan that watched the semis/finals wondered on the above items. Thanks.

Very good question, I'd be interested to know as well. There are smart tacticians here who may chime in but I CAN tell you MF & LS swapped earlier in the season, but Cook didn't say publicly SPECIFICALLY why, just that it created better matchups/combinations or something along those lines. .
