FAMU is a great serving team, that spells doom for UF. 275 aces, 174 errors. Granted, they don't face great competition, but it still isn't a good thing for Florida.
NU is the top seed and has only 1 loss, to FAMU in Lincoln. FAMU's 2 losses came when their setter was out. Injuries should've factored into their seeding. Florida and FAMU got shortchanged with the loss of matches due to hurricanes. Would the match vs. UCSB at home for Florida been enough to get a seed? FAMU missed out on playing Washington as well.

Mary says FAMU is Tennessee, with better servers.
They'll have Aaron Shepardson and Aury Cruz serving all week in the gym, to get the Gators ready. Hmm, not sure they can cure their passing woes in 4 days. We shall see.

I don't know why I think this, but I really think this team could make a run at the Final Four. I've thought the same thing all season, IF this team could play up to their potential, they're a top 5 team. I'm banking that Mary gets their butts in gear and the Gators make a run. Of course with that said, they could easily go out in the first round too.

FAMU-Stanford-Texas-Hawaii. That's tough. But I don't think it's impossible. Stanford may be the biggest hurdle.
I, for one, don't think they lose to FAMU.

Neither do I, and I think if we beat Stanford, we win the regional. Florida ALWAYS plays good in the postseason and we've never lost in the first round.

More talk about Hawaii getting screwed. The championships committee needs to do something to change this regionalizing crap. The best 64 teams should be in the tournament and there need to be rewards for teams who earned them during the course of the season.

Florida ALWAYS plays good in the postseason and we've never lost in the first round. True, but haven't you also always hosted and been seeded rather high!? Just wondering (out loud)...

Just wondering (out loud)... [/quote] Yep, 1st time Florida hasn't hosted at least the 1st round. The lowest they were ever seeded, I believe, was 2000, when they were the 14th overall seed, 4th in the region and lost to USC in the sweet 16.

That's true, but hey, I'm being optomistic here That's fine and I'm not saying you shouldn't be...in fact, I'd expect that from you as a fan (and certainly don't fault you for that)...we'll see how FL does...I certainly wish them luck (especially since I know some of their players), but worry about the situation...although I know that Mary and the feeling that they got hosed by the committee will fuel the Gators to be tougher than they otherwise would be (IMHO)....again, we'll have to wait and see.

Mary ends by saying that Stanford, Florida and FAMU were all deserving of top 16 seeds and that this is by far, one of the most challenging sub regionals, not for this year, but in the history of the tournament. I can't argue with that at all.

Mary The Wise needs a better reason for Purdue not being the tournament other than they lost to Kentucky.
It's funny to hear her fume about this stuff. She's right about a lot of it, but to just come out and say that a team didn't deserve to get in...makes for chilly conversation the next time she sees those coaches.

Dave Shoji jokingly said that he would be fined by the NCAA because of the comments that he made. It seems like Mary will be right there with him I think Florida got the worse draw in the tournament. I can't believe their 1st round match up. At least Hawaii has a relatively easy (knock on wood) 1st round. What was the committee smoking this year?

Mary The Wise needs a better reason for Purdue not being the tournament other than they lost to Kentucky. It's funny to hear her fume about this stuff. She's right about a lot of it, but to just come out and say that a team didn't deserve to get in...makes for chilly conversation the next time she sees those coaches. She also mentioned the 2 losses to Northwestern. At 16-14 with several bad losses, they didn't deserve to be in. She also said Arkansas, a team from her own conference, didn't deserve to be in either. She wasn't just picking on Purdue, but Purdue does not deserve to be in. Wins over GaTech, Illinois(2), Wisconsin and Valpo are good, but they don't offset losses to the teams mentioned above, as well as a loss to Wake Forest. Purdue was gifted into this tournament. I think also the reason Mary mentioned Purdue is because it's her alma mater. I"m sure she's happy for them to get in, but at the same time, she wonders how they did get in. What did the committee see in Purdue to award them a spot, and yet, what did the committee not see in other teams like Florida and Hawaii, to not either seed them or allow them to host. There was no consistency from the committee. They just did whatever they wanted, they didn't abide by their rules and the decisions they made will do nothing to help the game. In fact, they will hurt the game. Attendance would've been so much higher at places like Florida, Hawaii and Minnesota for the opening rounds. Watch the attendance numbers this week, esp. at FAMU and Yale. We can all laugh together when those come out.
