Just dumbfounded at the seedings. Said she spoke to various coaches today who all wondered what the committee was thinking.
Doesn't think Arkansas deserved to be in and has no idea how Missouri is a seeded team and playing at home. Their SWA is on the committee and that's why Mary thinks they got that gift. More to come as they discuss each part of the bracket.

Keep those updates coming, I'm very interested in what Mary has to say about the tournament!

Now on to the Minneapolis regional: Minnesota on the road, what is that all about? They should be drawing people at home in the 1st 2 rounds. They earned the right to be at home and the committee sends them away. How many people will be at the UMinn-LIU match? Retarded move.
Ohio State has the best player in the country, but shouldn't be a 5th seed over a team like Washington.
Georgia-GaTech played last Tuesday, why are they playing again? Another retarded move.

The Green Bay regional: Hawaii, undefeated, #3, not playing at home is so retarded. Unless the NCAA told the committee that they ran out of money and can't have 3 teams travel to Hawaii, this makes no sense. UH deserves to host, they earned the right. Taking the opportunity away from the players is wrong. They shouldn't be penalized. Even sending them on the road, sending them to CSU with CU and CSU there is no reward for the 3 seed. CSU isn't a top 16 seed either, that is just wrong too. How did Purdue get in, Mary doesn't think they deserved it. Purdue lost to Kentucky. Mary said Hawaii got screwed more than any team in the tourney. Said the committee should have to face the Hawaii fans and explain why they did what they did.

11 seed Stanford. Maples is under construction, so they can't host. If you are the 11 seed, you get sent to Tally. There's no reward there for their body of work, the success they had. They got shafted. Mary felt JU would certainly be Florida's first round opponent at home, meeting FAMU in the 2nd round. Well, that didn't happen. Never dawned on her that Florida wouldn't be hosting or be a top 16 seed. No bad losses, at all. Florida is in the same boat(unseeded) as a team like Purdue, that lost to Northwestern twice. The subregional has 3 top 16 seeds in Mary's opinion. Mary felt like she was sucker punched when the draw came out. Feels like the committee changed the rules for a lot of teams and didn't follow their own guidelines in the seeding and hosting assignments.

Mary's from Purdue, right?
[/quote] No, she's not using the retarded term. I am. Yeah, she went to Purdue.
FAMU is 2 hours from Gainesville.

Seattle regional: Washington at 7 makes no sense. They dropped them way too far. UW gets to play at home 1st and 2nd round, why are they hosting, when Minnesota as the 4 seed has to travel? Yeah, let's let Yale host, so we can increase attendance. Let's not let Hawaii host, cause we don't need to make money(sarcasm here).
Mary is really befuddled by the entire tournament selection process. They have turned the NCAA tournament into the NIT.

I'll move my comments here. Favourite quotes so far. "She(Mcginnis) is so good at setting the slide and getting our middles involved." "I want to see the committee answer to the Hawaii fans, because those people are out of control right now."

Sorry about that.

And thanks, too, to Mary for her support of the Hawaii program. It's nice that some people recognize what they've done this year. And it's always interesting to hear things from the perspective of a highly-respected coach.

I also find the talking up of senior players' importance veeery ironic.

Sherri kept asking Mary, why, what did we do wrong, in not being a host or a top 16 seed. Man, I can just see her saying that and that breaks my heart. They thought they'd have at least 1 more match at home. The seniors will never play at home again. Mary said, all they can do now is get ready, play FAMU and try to prove the committee wrong by getting a couple of wins this weekend.
