She’s currently better than hames. But I don’t see hames sitting so Sucks because she'd probably be utilized a lot but wouldn't wanna waste a year of eligibility on that. If it’s close and she’s only a little better than hames, I say save her a year. But if hames doesn’t show improvement in location and tempo than a change needs to happen

Yea.... but likely only 1 maybe 2 players will see the court in 2021...... I dont see reaping the benefits of this class until 2022' 2023 and 2024,25 Will Orr redshirt? That'd be Hames senior season right? I don't see Hames relinquishing the setter role her senior season, but there is precedent. Cook moved DBK from setter to libero her senior year so that Holloway could start at setter. DBK went on to be the Big 12 DPOY. It would be tempting for Cook to do it again if Orr arrives next January. Obviously, Hames has all the attributes of a stellar libero (i.e. amazing floor defense, excellent bump setting, and competitiveness/floor generalship). That would mean taking the libero jersey from Kenzie for a year which would be odd. The other option would be going to a 6-2 since Nebraska will have so many arms on the roster, but Cook dislikes it due to setter/hitter consistency.

I would think Orr would need to show she is clear and away better than Hames to be a starter. I also really do not see Cook running a 6-2. Would Hames be willing to take a spot on the bench? After two years at libero Knuckles should be settled in quite well by that point.

It would be surprising for Hames to beat out Knuckles for libero. A DS yes. Either DS or Libero might be to Hames advantage if she wants to play after graduating.
Curious about Densberger. I assume she came to Nebraska to play. Coach Cook has his challenges keeping everyone satisfied. Note NE recruited a walk-on setter in the 2020 class.
Zuhn may be a transfer candidate. Just not sure how her development went this year. Like to see her stay and commit to development. See her at this point more as OH than an MB. Anyone have knowledge on her and her potential.

She came because it was her dream to be a Husker from what I understand. She is definitely good enough to get playing time at lower levels if she wanted to, and probably good enough for a scholarship as well.

Morgan Broekhuis was on the bench her senior season. As was Haggerty. Cook will play whoever is better

Davis transferred to Texas . Wow. Via Texas Instagram Yeah, I’m surprised she went to Texas. I can’t see her playing there very much at all. Davis would need to show much greater consistency. She kinda burned her bridges in Lincoln and had no chance at returning. This is why we had a scholarship for Whitney Lauenstein and have one left for Sophie Fischer or an incoming transfer.

Wow, I was shocked to see Capri Davis going to Texas. I thought TCU or Baylor. Wishing you the best, Capri being a Longhorn.

I don’t see any evidence to suggest he wouldn’t put the best player on the floor regardless of what year they were, or how many years they started. Not sure how anyone could say Hames has all the attributes of a great libero when the number one attribute is passing, an she doesn’t. Great defenders aren’t automatically good passers. Now could she be a great passer? Of course, but Hames has probably been in about 2 serve receive drills in the last 6 years. Now she would blow Miller out of the water as a DS, as Sun, Kubik and Knuckles could pass. Having said all that, Hames won’t be easy to beat out. 1. She’s good. 2. She’s a great leader. 3. She has a VERY strong will.

Hell, for all we know Hames could potentially tell Cook herself to make Orr the setter and herself a ds. *Some* people truly are the ultimate team players.

Remember 2014? Mary Pollmiller? That one was a head scratcher.
