What nonsense. I'd invite anybody to go to 12:05 of that podcast and decide for themselves if Harward is putting down her partner. She simply saying the mindset at the start of the season was too focused on "getting better" and not enough on securing the win. That, all mixed in with positive remarks about the team. Also, I was at the Boat Ride and her play there was on another level than when I watched her at the UCLA match. Agree with kballer9. Should try to be careful. Heard this before too. Did any of you think she was going to be at number 1 when season started?
What have you heard? That the team was too focused on "getting better"? Listening to that small portion of the podcast she doesn't mention anyone by name or if that comment was specifically geared towards her partner rather than the whole team it's either a coaching issue of failing to adjust the teams mindset or her expectations of other teams not playing up to competition.
I didn't like how she used inexperience as an excuse for the team struggling. Other teams have had the same experience and still managed to have a successful season. Julia Scoles was an inexperienced beach player and did well last year at flight 2 with Hawai'i and she had a freshman partner this year and still had success. Is the issue really about some of the players never playing a beach match?... I see the argument against her here and how she quickly transitioned from her taking a year off to mentioning other players never playing a collegiate match.

You’re all crazy and reading way too deep into a simple answer to an interview question. But what else is there to do these days?

Agree, she is much older than the rest of these girls and should not respond with this type of ego when there are no big wins or much else. Still not sure why Slater wasn't playing with Halgren last year any way or someone else in the 1 spot. Should stay humble and encouraging to teammates. Same comment as the others who speak about why these girls aren't going pro who are old, instead they try playing in college where everyone is young, that is what college is for?!

Well, what are the possible teams?
1. Tina Graudina - ? 2. Hailey Harward - Julia Scoles (just pencilling in this pairing for simplicity) 3. Nicole Nourse - Audrey Nourse 4. ? - ? 5. Meg Kraft - Delaynie Maple
Pool for ? Players: Haley Hallgren, Sammy Slater, Kyla Doig, Harper Hallgren, Maja Kaiser, Olivia Bakos
My guesses with teams 2-5 all battling for position: 1. Tina Graudina - Haley Hallgren 2. Hailey Harward - Julia Scoles 3. Kyla Doig - Sammy Slater 4. Meg Kraft - Delaynie Maple 5. Nicole Nourse - Audrey Nourse
By far the deepest SC team in 4 years. Dominant Ones, and 4 other teams good enough for Ones on the majority of other teams.

Your final guess would be my pick as well only I think the slot where you have Kyla Doing at is really up for grabs. I just don't know enough about the remaining players to see who would likely have a chance. Off the top of my head, without knowing the facts on the ground, I'd put Myzkowski, Davis, and Castillo as having a outside chance in addition to your picks.

Myszkowski and Castillo won’t be on the roster. Joy Dennis will be. Also forgetting Paige Dreeuws on that list.

That was before they moved the Olympics to next year, wasnt it? If you scroll up, in this thread on July 30th, thelat said, ”Tina will be in Los Angeles after the European Championships in Latvia where she will be defending her title, she has 2 years of eligibility but will probably only play one. So who will partner with her at #1?”

You’re all crazy and reading way too deep into a simple answer to an interview question. But what else is there to do these days? Not sure if I was “reading too deep” into her comments. My only takeaway from it was her comments weren’t specific or blamed others in particular as others are trying to do. I don’t care for her comments on how she felt they approached the game because that’s a different issue on its own. The only part I didn’t agree with her is her comments of inexperience and how others have never played. Lost in translation I suppose, maybe if she was specific with that I would have a better understanding.

Agree, why would she come play with young 18-20 year olds at the college level and very restricted rules with COVID-19 when she can stay in Latvia and train unrestricted.
