Lauenstein benched at Texas already. If she can't play left side, she's out. We get it. You got pissy at Whitney for what she said on social media about Cook. What is it that you want here? Quit trying to sh!t on our buzz. I think it’s fun. No one is going to be able to sh1t on my buzz right now. It has an impregnable (see what I did there?) shield composed of back to back championships, 3 years of volleyball mag national player of the year awards, the first overall selection in the first PVB draft, Carlson, Rutherford, Lauenstein coming on board with more to come, flipping Ames, grabbing the commitment of Spears, Vander Wow, Krueger and potentially others. Apparently Elliott wants to make sure I never come down.

How many stooges are going to stay on the Texas roster? Where does the scholarship space come from? Fishes and loaves. Fishes and loaves. Just like at the Sermon on the Mount.

Let's be honest we don't need all these girls on our roster, like be so fr 🙄 Technically? No. Emotionally? Gordon Gecko said it best.

I'm kind of not excited about this team anymore. I’ll miss you.

To compete at the highest level and have an opportunity to win a Natty. Thank you coach for making this a reality.

But there are a million conversations going on behind the scenes that virtually no one on this board knows what’s being discussed. Scholarship, NIL, Injuries, redshirts, etc… Everyone that chooses to come to Texas is making that decision, JE is not bringing in players at gun point. Ewert, Bergmark both came in 2022 to compete. I’m sure they could have gone to places and been guaranteed starters but they chose to attend Texas and compete.

The Texas volleyball facility is toe-up. Its tiny and high school looking. They don't even have a terraflex court. But other than that, yes. Actually Gregory has been a selling point to some of the transfers that played in it previously. The players love playing in it because of the crowd atmosphere that it provides and also because they are the only team that plays on it so they don't have to share with any other sport. Besides the day to day areas for the team are quite modern and likely about as nice as any in the country. I think these old buildings are so cool and full of character and history. There are still a bunch of them around on campuses but the Wisconsin Field House and the Gregory at Texas stand out to me and are both great places to watch VB.

Now I believe you need to spend some money from time to time to keep them up to date or else they just become old which Texas has done with Gregory. It was the home for the men's basketball team until the Erwin Center was opened in the late 70s. As a kid, they used to play the state basketball tournament at Gregory. I remember going there with some teammates my senior year in high school to watch the 4A state championship (unfortunately we weren't good enough to be playing in it). My first time in the Greg. Texas would love to be able to expand the seating capacity but my understanding is that it would be cost prohibitive to do so and also would require removing a lot of the "character" in it. So occasionally they lock the fire marshal in the closet and let a few extra folks in.

Another complicating factor is that Gregory Gymnasium isn't owned or operated by the athletic department. It's run by entities within the university (it's controlled by the RecSports department, i think ... maybe a student association?). So the AD can't do whatever they want, they have to go through all the hoops and red tape and negotiate with the university to mutually benefical ends.

Doesn’t the VB team have to maneuver around recreation and intramural basketball to secure court time at Gregory?

Doesn’t the VB team have to maneuver around recreation and intramural basketball to secure court time at Gregory? No. They did a remodel in the late 1990's, which also brought A/C to Gregory, where two giant all purpose gyms were built for multiple student uses.

20 players counting Averis sister I don’t know if it’s clear her sister is part of the volleyball program. Just that she’s attending the school.

Doesn’t the VB team have to maneuver around recreation and intramural basketball to secure court time at Gregory? Yes, but not really. The volleyball team has their own dedicated practice facility. texassports.com/sports/2017/7/26/volleyball-practice-center.aspx === Those volleyball facilities are separate from Gregory gym. I believe they are built into the north endzone. So they work with Gregory Gym to reserve the court and facilities for all their games way ahead of time. At least, that's my understanding of the arrangement based on what CDC has said over the years. Thry basically rent the gym for their home games. If they ever so chose, a move over to Moody would be very easy and seemless.
