I don't see Cincinatti winning this match. Thompson is great, obviously, but they'll need a lot from the rest of the team to have a chance... PSU will just score too much (particularly through the middle) for Cinci to keep up. PSU in 3, maybe 4. A 5'9" OH in Mallon and a 5'7" setter in Heckenmueller? Russ will feast on those match ups. On a side note, I get goosebumps thinking how good PSU could be this year with J. Thompson as OH. While you're at it, grant Mrgan Hodge in extra three years of eligibility at PSU

Sure, most (all?) 2019 teams would be markedly improved with Thompson. She's literally having statistically the best season of the 25-point rally scoring era.

This along with Texas will be the most lopsided matches.

While you're at it, grant Mrgan Hodge in extra three years of eligibility at PSU I know in 2020 PSU loses White, but I could not help thinking how good in 2020 they would have been adding Ndaiye as an OH after I watched her play a couple matches her Sr. year in HS. Horde, Gray, Parker, Ndaiye.... Texas-like athleticism with RR coaching... frightening!

Boofy Lions get the sweep. Too many mismatches in the middle.

Don’t think it makes a difference in regards to outcome, but honestly, Mallon is better than Cathey/Clark.

Boofy Lions get the sweep. Too many mismatches in the middle. Which would be great but in grand scheme I think Stanford will win everything again

Stanford is second favorite team. If psu doesn’t go then I want it to be Stanford. If I believed those were top two teams and either would beat anyone else yeah maybe I’d take path of least resistance but there’s teams I hate In tourny that I think Stanford will beat. Psu not so much. Just being realistic this year

Perhaps offensively, but it's tough to compare because of their respective opponents. However, Cathey and Clark have the edge in blockin.

After hearing so much about Thompson and never really seeing her play, I checked out some of the YouTube videos of her along with the women's Olympic team this summer, and I was totally blown away. Now of course, she was taking sets from Carlini in all these videos, but wow, she's basically as good OOS as in-system, she can hit from anywhere on the floor. Infectious energy, looks like she is having an absolute blast out there.

Team USA could really use a terminal left. Maybe her serve receive never gets to the level it needs to be, but she's competent enough to keep it as an option.
