Adhuoljok Malual Italy and Para from mexico. Mention in longhorn news article but no UT press release on there signing to play there?? Yes it's a very wierd situation to say the least. Of course we all have known about Parra for about two years now but Texas themselves never announced anything until last year when they reposted Parra's commitment post on instagram. As far as Malual I don't think everyone knew she was being recruited by the staff until they announced she signed as well. So as far as the spring goes, both Parra and Malual were supposed to be apart of the 2020 class and join the team this fall but due to covid they were not able to make it to campus from their respective countries. So baring anymore problems they will both be joining the team in January and will be eligible to play in the spring tournament.

The announcement on Texassports.com (athletic department website) announced these signings at the bottom of the Morgan O'Brien announcement in early August. Typically announcements posted on this site are official releases from the school/athletic department. With the announcement of the signings was also the message that neither would be playing in the fall due to travel restrictions. There also has been a fair amount of discussion about the two in this thread.

This may be somewhere else in this thread, but the TCU series is officially moved to the Spring. Fall season is over.

That's why my original prediction was that if we were undefeated after the WVU matches, there might not be a reason to play the TCU matches on Thanksgiving weekend.

That's why my original prediction was that if we were undefeated after the WVU matches, there might not be a reason to play the TCU matches on Thanksgiving weekend. I also suspect that TCU being involved in three of the four postponed sets of matches was the primary driver of the delay until spring. Unless they forced TCU to double up on matches in a week, they (and their last opponent) wouldn't finish until mid-December. I'm sure the fact that all schools are ending their semesters at Thanksgiving put a lot of pressure to play them in the spring. I just wasn't sure that common sense would prevail.

Selfishly, I'd like to watch our team play the last two scheduled matches. But, with the semester ending prior to Thanksgiving, and the original schedule/plan for our players to leave campus with the other students until next January, I'm glad they get to go home as they had originally planned and be able to spend the holiday with their families.

So the assumption is that Texas gave out 6 scholarships in the fall of 2020: and on the same day that they say due to travel restrictions they say that they signed the 2 foreign players! Wow way weird! So texas had 6 scholarships available in fall 2020? Really? Interesting that because of covid texas announces signing and cant get here the same day?

It's hard to say, but the number 6 is probably not correct.
You have to go back further and/or go to the thread dedicated to Texas recruiting. Parra was supposed to sign Nov 2019. But because of her transcript, she spent one year going to HS in a suburban town of Austin. We believe she got her transcript "right" in the eyes of Texas admissions and was home in Mexico when Covid lockdowns started. Until a player signs, he can't comment on a recruit so from November 2019 until Fall of 2020, he couldn't discuss Parra. He's not playing games here.
Look at the new faces that showed up this Fall, they might add to 6 but they're not 6.
Capri Davis - #1 scholarship, but has left the team (although her picture is still up)
Madison Williams - #2 scholarship
Nalani Iosia - #3 scholarship
Reilly Heinrich - walkon
Naomi Cabello - #4 scholarship
Melanie Parra - #0.5 scholarship since she'll be showing up in Spring
Adhuoljok Malual - #0.5 scholarship if she doesn't go pro in Italy and shows up in the Spring
Morgan O'Brien - walkon or was she given a Fall semester scholarship from the Capri Davis scholarship?
The key is he's not paying the foreign students a scholarship while they're back home unless (I guess) they're taking remote classes?
So for sure 3 scholarships and maybe 3.5 with O'Brien factored in.
Also, he knew that Ashley Shook was going to graduate and leave after Fall semester. So there was more wiggle room in that.

Wow way weird! So texas had 6 scholarships available in fall 2020? Really? Interesting that because of covid texas announces signing and cant get here the same day? They are definitely three 2020 signees - Iosia, Cabello, Williams. Heinrich is non-scholarship. It is also assumed that Morgan O'Brien is non-scholarship. Not sure on the scholarship status for the two international players. If Parra and Mualal had been here this fall, then two players most assumed to be on scholarship would not have been. Probably would have been from a group of four (Jhenna Gabriel who has been non-scholarship, Capri Davis who was transferring from Nebraska, and the two international recruits). As events worked out, there should be scholarships for both international students and Gabriel in the spring. Capri Davis has reportedly given up volleyball so assuming her ship will be available in the spring. Also Ashley Shook is graduate transferring which has been the plan and was likely part of the scholarship plan for either Gabriel or Parra. Parra has been a Texas commit for a couple of years. We don't know why she hadn't signed her LOI previously (like on signing day for example), but a good assumption is that there was some delay in being accepted for admission by the school. Mualal was an out of the blue signee. No one even knew that she was being recruited. In retrospect, Elliott may have had indications that Davis wasn't going to play. It appeared she wasn't with the team in early August, so possibly Mualal was recruited for that spot. Or maybe just because she is a great prospect. Now why don't you just make the allegation that you seem to be implying with your 20 questions?

There are no .5 scholarships: and a financial offer must accompany NLI
