Is there any top talent left in the 2021 or 2022 class that Penn State could potentially pick up? 2022 class will have to replace the current junior class (8) RR will have his work cut out for him

I am hopeful with another year under their belt the strong sophomore class, combined with some transfers, will allow them to do better than fourth.Β Granted on paper, 4th in the B1G looks right for them.Β Hoping team chemistry and having an answer for the loss of KW will allow them to exceed expectations.Β Β Don't be surprised if that answer is Maddy Bilinovic. Imo she's top 5 in her class at the position (with Monson, Oglivie, Iosia and McKissock). After a good freshman year, Hampton struggled in 2019 - only managing a good pass percentage of 47% good pass percentage (Holcomb was 53%, White was 59%). Obviously how much practice time they get will dictate things, but I wouldn't be shocked if Bilinovic takes the jersey right out of the gate. We get it....subtlety is key π

I expect Bilinovic to take the job before Hampton leaves the school, but we'll have to see what happens. I'm sure you'll cheer for both of them, as I will.

If you have none than it really comes down to a feeling, eye test, notion, guese....or perhaps.... hope? Weird. Initially you seemed confident that it was Hampton's "caliber" that gave her a lock on the libero role. Now it's the lack of data on Bilinovic (who has been at the top of the pipeline with Monson and Rodriguez for years)? I have no vested interest in Bilinovic over Hampton, but PSU need more than 47% from their libero. 55% will likely be about the threshold (as it is for any top team at that position). If Hampton can do that, I expect she'll start. If she can't, I expect Bilinovic can - as always I could be wrong. Genuine question; if Hampton was the only conceivable option at libero, why was Rose trying to bring in a transfer libero (on a schollie) a few months ago?

You questioned data bias...your words...and yet you only have data on one kid comparing 2. Russ has had 2 back court kids on schollie numerous times in the same year. They always need multiple quality DS's ....like 3-4. Jenna also played hurt for much of the year last year and off season surgery immediately after the season ended. Even though she was hurt she started 114/117 SP (in the top 7) player......reception.....RE White.......446...........13 Holcomb......594..........31 Hampton......636..........21 Hampton was 4th on the team digs/set. Hampton healthy will be the Lib followed by a legion of tactical DS's That said I truly hope Bilinovic is as good as you feel she is.

Hampton healthy will be the Lib followed by a legion of tactical DS's You misunderstood. The passing data is relevant (if you understand passing stats) in relation to the expected standard for a libero on a program like PSU. KW was 63% and 59% over the last two years. 47% isn't enough. There will be a competition for the libero jersey. Rose was looking for a transfer to come in and compete for the job. If a healthy Hampton can pass ~55%, she'll get the job. But if she is closer to 47%, I doubt she will (unless the others are worse). I'm not sure why you're so resistant to that. Your refusal to accept any other outcome than Hampton at libero appears to be bias on your part. And that's fine, you're a PSU fan, I'm not. It's natural you'll have favorites. But let's not pretend the matter is already settled.

Im not sure how possible this is but could it be possible that Russ explores the 6-2 in 2020?
Jonni Parker was a really talented setter in club put has not gotten to show that in college (set when shes back row and play opposite when shes front row) Gabbie Blossom is undersized but phenomenal... subbing her out once shes front row could allow PSU to use its size
If Fitzpatrick can come and play 6 rotations as a + passer that would be awesome. The battle for OH 2(Cathey, Van Den Elzen, Bailey, Clark) I think Flowers could take the second OP position
Two All American middles will still be our strength.
If we can find the passing in 2020... I like this lineup.

Not sure it makes any sense to add finding another in order to run a 6-2.

Your "data" is always skewed, out of context, and irrelevant. We get it -- Hampton passed 47% last season, which isn't on par for a "great" libero. But Bilinovic hasn't played a single set of college volleyball. How do you know she'll fare better? What "data" do you have to support that, other than her ranking on pvb.com?
