Western got obliterated by Queen's on Friday, but still lead the OUA West by 2 "points"
Some heavy weight bouts today (Sunday), with Ryerson @ Brock, and Laval @ Montreal.
Ottawa hosts McGill in what is probably their most realistic shot at a win this year.

They have some really good recruits coming in next year so the upward trend should continue. They did really smart things by hiring NATASHA Spalding as an AC.

Well they followed up their win over Western with a loss to Windsor on Saturday. So maybe some consistency issues.

I think that outside the top 5 teams in U Sport, consistency is always an issue 😂😂

Entering February with no major shakeups in the standings. UQAM is atop The RSEQ ladder as the points leader, but they also have more losses than either of the other two title contenders.

Canada West is pretty much as expected with Trinity at the top followed closely by Mount Royal and gasp.... Macewan and Saskatchewan. Perennial powerhouses like UBC and Dinos have not yet qualified for Canada West playoff action UBC is likely while Dinos stand zero chance having lost to ALBERTA 25-8 last night, 😳 Thompson rivers has qualified for probably the first time ever.
On a side note - I heard U- Sport women’s volleyball will finally follow the men’s side and limit the amount of professional years an athlete can play before going to U-Sport. New rule will be that for every year played professionally, they will lose one of their 5 years of USport Elegibility. This will impact teams like Thompson Rivers that has a couple of EX- professionals playing on their roster. Some of them played pro for 8+ years before going to U-Sport. This will also impact players like Kyra VanRyk if she has plans to return to school at any time and was hoping to play.

If Calgary can sweep Winnipeg this weekend they still have a good chance to qualify. They finish the season against UBCO while Winnipeg finishes against MRU. Although they'd have a tough first round match up. Interesting about the Pro rule. Find it strange someone like Tasha Holness could come back and play Usport after playing 10 years or so of pro.

very true on the Dino’s, I didn’t see that. They will need to win out to get there, otherwise they have a big stretch between end of regular play and Nationals. Middle Beth Vinnel went down during the UofA game and not sure if she will be available this weekend. As they top scorer that will be a hole they need to fill.

Dalhousie got housed by Acadia in straight sets, for their first loss of the season.

Did anyone see the Dino’s Wesmen match on Saturday. A middle for Calgary (Culo) went down in the 4th while blocking - she landed on her left Leg and there was an audible sound of her Tibia and Fibula snapping. Has anyone EVER heard of this happening before? It was clean, there were no other players around.

Today (Saturday) is the final day of the regular season for Atlantic and Canada West. Tomorrow (Sunday) concludes Quebec's regular season, while Ontario wraps things up next weekend.
Ottawa finished off their winless season last weekend.
The conference tourney brackets can often be a little difficult to scrounge up, and all employ wildly differring formats, iirc.

Dalhousie beat St Mary's in Game one of the AUS finals.
It will be Laval and Montreal in the RSEQ.
The Canada West semifinals are underway, and the OUA quarterfinals get going on Leap Day.

In Canada west news - Thompson Rivers took TWU to 5 yesterday putting a win under their belt. MRU vs Pandas series starts today and should be great matches to watch. You can watch on CanadawestTV, pass for playoffs costs around $20. If TRU can beat TWU, it would be the upset of the year.
