U Sports and all the various conferences that is supports announced today that they will not be hosting National Championships and the Conferences will not be hosting Regional contests. That means no University Sport in Canada this year. Volleyball, Basketball, Hockey, Wrestling Rugby. Swimming and Track and Field are still under discussion.

That’s really disappointing to hear. I was really excited to see how Mount Royal would do this year.
Any word on ACAC competition in the winter semester?

Mount Royal was going to do very well this year - they were trending upwards for sure. Nothing new in ACAC, as of right now they “may” compete in January, however nothing official yet. I assume that if USport and Canada West cancel, then so will College Sport

Well technically the MCAC is scheduled to play their season starting in January. However a couple of schools have opted out. mcacathletics.ca/womens-volleyball/. Of course all subject to change considering Manitoba's current case count.

It's too cold as the virus loves cold dry air -- think meat packing plant conditions. Eh, but they can play if they all get vaccinated.

Are there any Canadian sports going on? I know that the CFL is not playing. Yeah this past weekend would have been Grey Cup. Pretty much everything is on hold for now. Some levels of junior hockey started up in some provinces but I beleive most have postponed their seasons. We did have a professional soccer season this summer/fall canpl.ca/. It was played in a bubble in Prince Edward Island. The CFL has actually posted a schedule for the 2021 season to begin May 23. Of course all subject to change. There are a devoted group of women's National Team volleyball athletes training in Richmond with Next Gen head coach Shannon Winzer. Of course most of the top players are in Europe.

I am curious to see how long they will keep the Richmond Oval open and athletes training - B.C. is going through a partial shutdown, but for now looks like they get to keep going. I think the Mens Full Time training Centre in Gatineau Quebec is still active as well. Maybe they will all make it till Christmas 😊

Wow, that 2021 CFL schedule is just bizzarre. The Argos play both of their preseason games against the Ticats, H-A, then they get a bye week to kick off the regular season, followed by two more games against the Ticats, H-A. And if that weren't strange enough, those two teams are scheduled to play two games against each other in the same week, week 13, which is of course the "Labour Day Classic" week, after which both teams have a bye week.

Any news on what will happen with Canadian USport vball next year. I know the Season starts later than the US but it looks to me like Canadians are more conservative than the US when it comes to COVID. Might there be a delay or a realignment for this year? What about admissions and the impact of the economy? Will that impact schools. I know they don’t have the same impact as US regarding budgets because they are so much smaller but will we see program cancellation or shrinkage? U Calgary Head Coach is gone, who is going to replace her? So many questions 😊😊😊 I had a friend get hired by Calgary as an AC last week, hired by the HC so I'm assuming they have her replaced just haven't made an announcement! godinos.com/news/2020/12/2/christine-biggs-named-womens-volleyball-head-coach.aspxLet's see if coach Biggs can get the Dinos back to the top of Canada west next season.

Have know Biggs for years - she is knowledgeable and experienced but will have her work cut out for her. They have a roster of 22 that have not had a coach since March and have not been practicing or training since thanksgiving. Should be a very fun spring for that group trying to get back to some level of fitness and playing form - if things open up here again.
