Robinson is gone for sure. She dropped all her classes. Then she better be in school somewhere or she could be ineligible.

Robinson is gone for sure. She dropped all her classes. Then she better be in school somewhere or she could be ineligible. If she dropped then she will be in the portal. She has a few days to get it all sorted and enroll in her new school so as to maintain her eligibility (assuming she wishes to continue playing).

I would assume that she, her academic advisers (outgoing and/or incoming), her family, her coach "are on top of" her academic standing. Would be nonsensical, otherwise! You'd be surprised how little support the outgoing ones provide and, by definition, she's have a period with no incoming ones... Parents are clueless, the SA is stressed and the worst kinds of coaches can use this uncertainty to make the player doubt their decision. Even with the improvements it's still a frightening process for many SAs.

Seems like she has a place. If not....then she is getting bad advice which is not outside of the realm of possibility. Misinformation happens.

If she didn't have another school lined up yet, she could just take her classes this semester and transfer during the summer, right?. Actually dropping all her classes (assuming that's true) would seem to indicate that her destination is set.

I've seen it happen more times than I can count. Certainly not every experience is like that. But they absolutely can be.

That's why this window is important (when you can drop classes and enroll in another school). I will also add that she cannot have a destination 'set'. She can have a program (or multiple ones) in mind. But until she's in the portal she cannot have had any contact (and no one can on her behalf) so it's still an anxious time.

Thanks for the clarification on the process. I still think it would be unlikely to drop her classes if she wasn't confident of a landing spot. Out of curiosity, how long is the window for her to complete the transfer and enroll in the new school?

I would hope that the Y doesn't practice sketchy transfer etiquette.

You're correct in that if she's dropped her classes then she must be enrolled somewhere else in order to maintain her eligibility. It'll probably happen in the next few days.

Here’s my guess:
Dave Hyte got the job at Utah State and she’s following him.
I really hoped Madi would turn into a great passer. But, it didn’t happen. She has a cannon for an arm. I wish her nothing but the best.
