I also recall the poster saying BYU should not recruit hitters under 6 FT. RJP was 6 Ft only on a very very good day. Guess she shouldn’t have been recruited by BYU. Shame on them. Agreed, that is just silly. Athleticism is paramount and is not solely dependent on being over 6 ft.

Agreed, that is just silly. Athleticism is paramount and is not solely dependent on being over 6 ft. 6ft isn't under 6ft. Just a casual look through the rosters of the final 4 teams last season and I see that not one of them had a starting OH under 6ft tall. Maybe they just missed recruiting some very athletic OH's who are shorter than 6 ft like the BYU model suggests? I bet the same goes for the elite 8, but I just don't have time to look. RJP and the Haddock twins were walk on's. For those of you that don't think Shawn Olmstead approved every scholarship handed out and that Heather did all the recruiting, simply false. Russ Jones winning percentage is over 40 years. Heather's is over 4 years. That winning percentage will go down. BYU's current team isn't even in the same class as Penn State's squad. BYU won't win the WCC and may get 3rd if the WCC even has a season in the spring. As for the comment that the ex BYU player made that Heather knew the Jardine girl would reject the walk on offer so that is why Heather offered, you have to be joking right? I hope that the WCC allows the season to go on this spring. If USD and Pepperdine beat BYU and BYU can't win any early season tournaments with national caliber teams, I look forward to your comments on passing, pin hitters and talent evaluation by Olmstead. I have never said Heather is a poor coach. I do believe she has a hard time judging talent. I believe it manifests itself in playing time decisions and in recruiting. The MB's and maybe one of the Opp's are legit. Bower at setter is decent also. Everyone else is going to have to show way more than they did last season or BYU may not be 3rd in the WCC. Hope Gonzaga doesn't start to get serious about building a vb program on the back of their women's and men's bb programs.

Your fixation with Olmstead is starting to get creepy.

Van Sickle is way under 6 ft. had 14 kills against a Stanford team that is greatly over 6 ft. I do like underdogs, but if you are a phenom athlete, pure vert don't hurt. I don't even know who Jardine is so I am not in any position to have an opinion one way or the other. I just hope there will be volleyball =)

out of curiousity, do we know if games are going to be on byutv this year? Schedule is up but nothing about tv. Their homes games aren't listed on WCC TV so I'd bet they're going to be on byutv. I think all of the away games but two or three are listed on WCC TV

Russ Jones winning percentage is over 40 years. Heather's is over 4 years. The only Russ Jones I can find is a softball coach at a community college... Weird that someone so successful has stayed so far under the radar.
