At the time it was reported that she was devastated, having been the captain of the team at the time. But a bout of poor form prior to Rio meant Lang Ping had to cut her. Not sure if she will be cut for Tokyo as well. This is likely her last shot at the Olympics.

Her role these past major tournaments has been small not to mention staying healthy has been a problem at times.

Still, if she can impress Lang Ping, she might still have a shot.

Hmmmmm. I am rewatching USA play Argentina in the IOQT and World Cup. They really have a starting line-up with some serious potential. They just lack discipline. Many of their new star players are very young. The recipe to upset some of the mid-tier teams is there.

I always thought Argentina didn't have enough of a big-banger (Fresco at OPP even at her peak, could only do so much), and they lacked size/physicality. One match that left me flabbergasted was the 2015 World Cup -- when Serbia almost blew their Olympic bid when they inexplicably went 5 sets with Argentina

I was watching some matches looking for impact players and one that surprised me given her height was MB Bianca Farriol who is only 17 and 5ft.11in. She was just so dynamic and came to replace Michel Tosi in several matches. I think she is even better than Lozcano. Also Mayer, Bulaich and Rodriguez bring some much needed youth and energy to the squad. Too bad they only have the very short Challenger Cup before the Olympics to get ready. The 2020 VNL would have done them some good.

trojansc what do you think Dominicana's roster will be for the games? It should be more or less what we got for the qualification tournament, right?

Well since only 12 can play in Tokyo, 2 will be cut from that roster. Most likely two of these: Arias (MB), Peña-Isabel (OH), Larysmer Martinez (L), and Mambru (OPP). Tough call. I’d probably leave out Larysmer & Arias or Mambru.

Was Gonzalez (Opp) present during the recent qualifiers?

Does Japan have any veterans we haven't seen in a while that might make one last push to make the Olympics? I will admit...I do not follow their NT as much as I should.

She's listed on Hisamitsu Springs roster. Either she's still injured or their other opposite is performing better, I did a quick check of some of their matches on youtube and looks like she didn't play.
