I believe that Rettke and Butler both have elite potential, but whether or not they realize that and transition successfully to the international game I’m not so sure. They have all the tools to be successful though

This match was a mess. USA played some of the most dominant and then lackluster volleyball from set to set. Robinson and Drews played really well though. Russia's block is a booger. UGH. I know what you mean. The only great set for USA was set 5. Set 1 - Leading for the most part, collapses then losing it Set 2 and 3 - huge lead only to be reduced to 25-22 finishes Set 4 - they forgot how to pass (reminds me of vs. KOR Set 3) Drews owned sets 2 and 3 while Robinson carried them at 5.

Lots of Japanese transfers with in the V-League are starting to pop up on the transfer market. Hopefully soon we will learn which foreigners have landed in the league. werka do you have any new details? All announcements have been about local transfers. Only Drews is assured of which team rn. Tapp, Akinradewo, Plummer still to be announced by their teams.

they did it during the VNL with lake and Courtney Really? I don't remember this at all? I remember Lake/Courtney splitting time over sets (including in the loss vs. DR). What match(es) did Lake/Courtney alternate? I'm referring to using one libero exclusively on service reception, and the other exclusively on defense. Courtney and Lake did it towards the tail end of the USA vs Brazil VNL match that took place in Lincoln. I think Karch did it for the 3rd and 4th set only.

They have all the tools to be successful though Butler is a gifted athlete, but can we at least wait until she has an All-American Level season before putting her in the national team mix? I’d throw Kaitlyn Hord in there ahead of her right now. Neither served last year which is an issue also...

She was on the Japan scrimmage roster (with Hord) and the 40 player long list for the OG roster (without Hord). I understand your reservations, they are perfectly reasonable but if we're discussing who is actually in the NT conversation, Karch likes Butler.

"all-american season" She absolutely would've been all-american this past year if she wasn't injured/met the match eligibility requirements The only middle better than Butler in the NCAA's right now is Rettke.

Kind of an update concerning a former American pro: Bisonte just signed Lazic; replacing Foecke . I'm still very bummed out about this. I do not normally delve into any player's personality; I am going to here. After watching her for ~five years I feel, in this case, that she is such the strong-willed and mono-focused individual that when she decides on something: she decides! I've rarely seen such a self-confident, almost arrogant, performer in my decades of VB. Hence, Mikaela taking-her-way-to-the-highway, so to speak, isn't that shocking to me!

At the end of the day if her heart just isn't in it then she needed to pursue other things. Good for her!

Leah Meyer from Kentucky headed to CSM Târgoviște in Romania! I didn't even know they had a league It's actually the 6th highest ranked league in Europe according the the CEV ranking system. Usually their top two teams Alba Blaj and Bucuresti are the two that attract some high-mid profile foreign talent. Romania's National Team by contrast is ranked 17th in Europe and 38th in the world. CEV Champions League Ranking: 1. Turkey 2. Italy 3. Russia 4. Poland 5. France 6. Romania 7. Germany 8. Switzerland 9. Bulgaria 10. Belarus
