FYI,for HP Video Tryouts, I want to take this opportunity to let you know that the posting of results for the Girls Youth age group has been postponed until May 28th, 2020. What a scam/joke

FWIW... USAV Changed the dates last year as well for HP tryout results. This is not a new thing.

Will your child be going? The video tryout is the scam joke, the event won’t even happen The video tryout option is not a new thing. It has been one of the options for at least the last few years. I know directly of 2 kids that made A1, from video tryouts last year. They still might not happen, but that would be for reasons beyond their control. So far, they have refunded all fees for the tryouts that were cancelled. I would guess that if HP is cancelled, then they will refund the $75. I hope it is not cancelled. They are lifting the bulk of the restrictions in my area today, hopefully a good sign.

It may be unlikely that these events happen, but I do think they will watch/evaluate the submissions and keep the info on file especially for girls already in the pipeline. Even if there is no hp championships this year, maybe there will be holiday camp still or (for the junior age group) CNT tryouts next spring. I think it’s no secret USA tends to favor those who are consistently in the program. We submitted a video more as a “placeholder” to keep her name in the system. For what it’s worth, looking at the views on the unlisted YouTube link we submitted, it looks like it’s been watched 2 or 3 times so far. Is that worth $75? Hard to say at this point. But I’m not spending any money on volleyball travel right now and I’d already paid for the in person one so seemed like a why not?

I agree, It seems like if a child has already been, then during club season you see that a lot of the USA coaches are Club coaches and college coaches and they are seeing the kids play. So, it is very likely that they are already familiar with some of the players (they often say hello) and have a pretty good idea of their abilities. Of course, there are a lot of very talented players that might be trying out for the first time, so maybe they evaluate them more closely in the video tryout.

This leaves me wondering where club directors and facilities (as well as the individual player, since they must be responsible for their own personal supply of hand sanitizer, I’m sure) are going to find enough hand sanitizer/wipes/, etc to maintain compliance with the sanitizing procedures? (Actually, I’m wondering a number of things, but this is one of the top thoughts. )

As a club director in our own facility, I started ordering hand sanitizer in March from a variety of sources. Started arriving earlier in May and have about 5 gallons in right now (and several orders still pending). Wipes to sanitize volleyballs is another story. Those haven't been around.
Even when you get the gallon bottles you have to find pumps to screw in (those have been hit or miss to find).

May not fit perfectly but you can probably MacGyver it or just put it in the shampoo bottles that the pumps fit.

Instead of using a million wipes for the balls just have a bunch of extra balls on hand. Swap them out between games and wash them at a central station.

So what does this mean? They see something, somewhere being played? Is it a cover their butt document? Or os this just something moving forward so people can start planning for next season, whatever THAT may look like.
