If they were a danger to each other in the dorms, why would you rather they get on a plane and be a danger to the people on the plane and then a danger to the people at their parents' homes? I do not understand your logic. Because the chances of spreading it on campus for the next couple of months are much higher than spreading it on a plane flight and staying at home.

Your friends send you images and memes which confirm your slanted world view rather than challenging it (with evidence and data)? Huh, shocker. Ain't social media great! No I just think our world is 90% sheep. Everyone following the heard instead of thinking for themselves. Emotion vs logic. Yes we all have different views and opinions and mine is people are acting nuts and are going way overboard. Instead of leaders and media trying to calm people down they are riling them up with fear. Panic solves nothing. Great leadership we have all over the country. Hey people can believe what they want. I’m just not buying into this mass hysteria. Let the sheep keep leading other sheep into the abyss for nothing. Mass panic seems like the new cool thing to do so everyone’s doing it. Good luck. Let me know how that works out I’d be willing to bet over half the cases or more of people exposed in those numbers showed little to no symptoms at all. If we start basing things off that rather then people who just tested positive I think a lot of people would look really dumb panicking over all this but like always we take the 1% and blow it way up and ignore the other 99% People literally never learn anything. Fear and panic is how people control. Thinking for yourself shouldn't include disregarding knowledge from places like the CDC.

The best thing about all the partisan hype is that Americans (many for the first time) are learning to wash their hands. I wonder how long it will last. This is a good thing that could actually lower the death rate from the normal flu too.

No the public and media cherry pick certain areas and completely disregard others. If people couldn’t see the clear cherry picking in the impeachment trial and think this is any different when it comes to media is in complete denial The media has become one of the most untrustworthy sources of info anywhere

The media has done that since the first newspaper every came out. There use to be at least some semblance of balance. There’s no true journalism anymore. People cherry pick and over inflate info that supports their agenda and ignores everything else. There job is to report news not tell people what the right or wrong way is. They don’t give all the facts and let people make up their own minds. They try and influence people to the way they believe. This is why government needs to get out of schools. It’s not the right way. Let people teach what they feel is best for their institution. When government gets to decide what’s in the books schools read and stuff they arnt leading anymore. They are trying to control everyone

Perhaps, but the media doesn't report about the statistics regarding the, approximately, 50,000 people/yr that die in traffic accidents (USA). Which, as a percentage of the population, is much higher than deaths associated with flu/Covid/Pneumonia, etc. Perhaps if they did that, people would panic and stop driving. Perhaps Covid will, in fact, lead to a pandemic, with millions of Americans dying, but, my lived experience, thus anecdotal, is that probably will not happen. Does that make me a science denier? (Rhetorical) =)
Are you saying people don’t have valid reason not to believe a lot of what media says or way they present it? I don't see much data presented by media or reporters . ? stop imagining thing....you are in a middle of a small flock of sheep and you don't even realize it. I see and read papers, websites, stats and quotes from Scientists, Virologists, CDC and the WHO.

That, combined with your repetition of the comparison between COVID-19 & flu, your inability to form a cogent argument ("90% are this", "99% is that" - all opinions presented as statistics) and your resistance to the data with which you've been presented strongly suggests you lack the critical faculties necessary to determine accurate sources of news media from, let's say, more partisan ones.

Dr. Fauci head of NIH and the only person that does not seem to have an agenda on this issue testified in front of congress. Two facts from that. This will get worse, it will spread from community contact. Most people will show NO SYMPTOMS. Second Fact: He stated that it is now down to 10X the mortality rate of the common flu (1% vs. 0.1%). This basically CONFIRMS that as they test more, the fatality rate keeps dropping. It was 10%, then 7% was screamed out by Chicken Littles, then 4% -- as recent as yesterday 3% was being claimed. Fauci now says it down to 1%.
How low will it go as they update the denominator (the number infected)? I am willing to bet it will be above the 0.1% that the flu kills (because of some terrible death rates in terrible countries that cannot control any infection in their hospitals -- like Italy), but I would put money on 0.2-0.3%. That will take a year to come out with (like H1N1 took 18 months to declare that 50MM had it in the USA).

Did you need the WHO to tell you that? I posted the link to Johns Hopkins. It even has a picture map for the statisically challenged. Pandemic simply is an outbreak of an infectious disease that has spread WORLDwide. By saying the word changed nothing. The map was worldwide yesterday, and the day before and ..... Here is the link again. Not hard to see that a bureaucrat announcing what is already known is not really new news. Interesting that he chose now to throw in the towel and finally do it but other than that this is not news to anyone. That fact basically makes your claim about the WHO kind of funny, your statement is factual. www.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6

The mortality rate is no more to worry about in the end I think then the common flu. Yet people haven’t been shutting down schools and life because of that. The only reason. Is cause they don’t have cure yet. That’s the panic. The fact that this virus is extremely rare in children and healthy adults and that such a large percentage don’t even have symptoms outside the elderly and people with underlying conditions who are at high risk for everything I don’t see the cause for mass hysteria. Is it a thing, yes. Should there be this amount of panic and hysteria? In my opinion absolutely not.
