Hard to say at this point whether reinfection is a possibility since COVID-19 is in the Corona family of viruses. Probably best hope for controlling future outbreaks is for either a pretty effective vaccine or therapy. Whether or not it is possible to get reinfected may not be the only concern. I have heard Health officials are concerned of the possibility of a second wave of spread in the Fall.

Not to be Debbie Downer, but.....
Let's just say there's somehow a remarkable turnaround in the incredibly incompetent and criminal U.S. leadership of this crisis, or let's hope the next Jonas Salk is out there and comes up with a vaccine or treatment that can be available for wide use within 90 or 120 days...then what? How many days or weeks after we reach some sort of level of near normal do we have to wait to feel like we're no longer at risk? Three weeks? Three months?
And what about all the anti-vaxers who take their marching orders from Brietbart and Intercept? Fercrisakes, we can't even keep measles at bay because of these knuckle-draggers, how the frick are we supposed to ever get herd immunity.
There will be all kinds of ways to 'ease into' a return to normal. One might be going to work. Others might be going to a nice restaurant or having friends over, or getting hair cut.
But, really, are you ready to go into a crowded sports arena with 4,000 other people elbow-to-elbow, high-fiving, yelling, sneezing, coughing, burping, bumping into you getting to their seats? Not me, brother. I'll be brave enough to ease into small gatherings, but not big sports arenas or concert venues. Maybe I'll feel differently in the fall of 2021 if I'm still upright. But, for me, 2020 is already a write-off.
(And volleyball has some of the most genteel fans. I haven't stepped foot into an NFL stadium in a decade because of the disgusting drunken behavior of so many fans.)
Sadly, so many people have fallen victim to the non-stop political attacks on "Fake News", that many no longer listen to advice from expert scientists.

If there is a season and fans are allowed, I'm going to games.

I absolutely hate when my volleyball forum is littered with political opinions. We have Twitter to serve that purpose.

It would suck if they had to play with no fans.

Ah, this is my opportunity for advertisement! Are you looking for a Top-level D1 program with a state of the art facility but plenty of space to “social distance”? Look no further! USC is the ideal institution. Unless we play UCLA, crowds of around 200-500 are about the norm in our giant Galen Center. Plenty of space to be safe! Pro Tip: Sneak in your own food — Galen food is not good and of course overpriced. But also this minimizes contact and risk of exposure!

It would suck if they had to play with no fans. If the alternative is no season at all, I know which one we’d all pick.

Seems optimistic 😉

Do they have armed guards at the doors?

They say it's still not that height of getting worse, so it's supposed to be as bad as everyone having the virus. It seems like we won't have anything going, movies, sports, or jobs for the next five years.

Never seen predictions/models calling for 5 yrs. 18 mths for a vaccine, less probably for treatment. I try to be in the optimist/realist range. 5 yrs? Where the heck did you come up with that number?

I think we'll have good idea by June 1st since China, South Korea, and a few others are out in front of the United States regarding infections. We'll see if they can control the 2nd wave of infections. If they can't do it, I doubt we can. Any effective therapy would be a game changer also.
