Nice article from athletes with a Cincy connection "As an athlete, it's heartbreaking news, but I truly believe health and well-being should always be the priority," Rachael Adams said. "I will continue to work and train with my team to be ready for 2021. I wish everybody good health during these challenging times and send a huge thank you to the people and workers at the front line of the pandemic. Together, we can fight this," “I’m saddened by the postponement of the Olympics especially for the athletes who have tirelessly poured their hearts and souls into this event,” Hentz said Tuesday. “However, I think many realize that the world is facing an unprecedented situation and big decisions have to be more in order to ensure the health and safety of people comes first.” Hentz said playing in the Olympics is a major goal of hers but she considered herself a longshot to get on the team this year. “I’m just getting started in the national team gym,” she said. “It would definitely be a goal of mine but that’s a long way off now and there are a lot of incredible athletes currently on the team. I have a lot of training and work to do from now until then if I want to have a chance.” www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/high-school/ohio-high-school/2020/03/25/olympic-hopefuls-now-must-wait-postponement-2020-summer-games/2906764001/

They wait 13 years for another Olympics and it could get rained out!

This would be absolutely terrible for most track & field athletes. I've been in Tokyo the past few years doing this time and while the temp can be in the 60s it can also be in the 40s with some intense wind, especially around Tokyo Bay. What sporting event is bigger than the Olympics... just schedule it for the same time in 2021 and everything else will have to reschedule. I can't imagine any other athlete choosing an alternative event over the olympics.

I'm not so sure just yet. Too early to tell when this whole thing will peak globally. I'm trying to be optimistic but this has all gotten very real VERY fast.

Hopefully the world has gone through the worst of this by August. The pandemic is just starting to clear its throat in Latin America, Africa and Eastern Europe. Those locations should be nearing the beginning of the infection spike. United Nations Secretary-General Manuel Guterres is pleading with the G-20 (richest countries in the world) to band together to do "whatever it takes" to not just bend the curve but to break it. He fears what is coming for the lesser developed countries around the corner. What he and many others fear will likely come to pass since most of the developed world is at or nearing the peak of infection domestically and will not have the time or resources to aid the third-world. That is when this Pandemic will truly reach its deadliest potential.
From what I can tell China and S. Korea have made it to the other side with more and more of their population recovering compared to the rate of new cases. They are already attempting to aid Italy, Iran and the USA with testing kits and containment advice/resources. Hopefully they can turn their attention to poorer countries nearing the beginnings of their infection spike.
Japan was doing the same but has seen another spike in activity in the past week. Turkey went from the bottom to near the top of the total infections chart in a week. Brazil, Australia, Ecuador, Chile, Russia, Thailand, Pakistan and India are all next probably reaching their peaks by late April. Africa will be the last continent to spike but when....it's hard to say.
We are just in the beginning of this thing on the global timeline. Watching all of this unfold is truly fascinating but in the most horrific way possible.
Hope everyone is staying safe out there.

As horrible as this is in developed countries, I cannot fathom the damage it will do in third-world countries, especially when the rest of the world is also struggling and will be less able to step in and help.
You can't trust any of the stats coming out of China. The CCP has lied about the number of infected and dead since the beginning. Their claims of so few new cases now conflict with what I am hearing from people I know who live in Wuhan.
I find I wake up in the morning and I have about a minute of feeling like everything is normal and then reality settles like a weight on my heart/mind again when I remember this new world we are in now. I say a prayer and rally to see what the newest updates are.
Michael J. Fox, the actor who has Parkinson’s disease, was asked repeatedly if he was worried about the future after his diagnosis. I loved his response, “I don’t spend a lot of time imagining the worst case scenario. It rarely goes down as you imagine it will, and if by some fluke it does, you will have lived it twice.”
I try to hang on to that. Just take it day by day. Be smart, take the measures of caution being asked of all of us, do our best to help others and see how it plays out.
Stay safe!

Team USA benefits a whole lot more than other countries. All the young talent will get some more reps to get them ready!
