What event is bigger in either sport happening at that time?

What event is bigger in either sport happening at that time? Only thing I can think of for tennis is that it's in between Wimbledon & the US Open.

I don't think this will have much of an impact on the other sports. The Olympics were originally scheduled to run from July 24 to August 9 this year, so the new dates are in the exact same window. Fortunately, 2021 also happens to be a year without either a World Cup or Women's World Cup in soccer.

What event is bigger in either sport happening at that time? Absolutely nothing. When the world recovers and we see this come to fruition, this will be (arguably) the greatest and most important sporting event in modern history.

Wimbledon and the US Open are every year. I guess the athletes have to choose what's more important to them. I think it'll be a no brainer for them

What event is bigger in either sport happening at that time? Not bigger, but those dates directly overlap with the Wold Championships for both aquatics and track & field. In volleyball, there are those that argue that the World Championship is a bigger deal than the Olympics. Perhaps inside those sports, some people feel the same way?

Yeah, I saw that, but I have to imagine that the World Championships in those sports will simply be moved. The Olympics are a million times bigger.
Edit: They have already been moved to 2022 in track and field. I imagine the swimming ones will be moved shortly.

In 1988, Steffi Graf won all four majors and the Olympic gold medal. In 2012, the gold medal winners were Serena Williams, who also won Wimbledon and the US Open, and Andy Murray, who won the US Open and was the runner-up at Wimbledon.

What event is bigger in either sport happening at that time? Depending on who you ask, Wimbledon. Moving Wimbledon and either the Euro clay season or North America hard court season will be a big deal For swimming its moving the World Championships. Not more important but still a task in itself

I can buy that Wimbledon and the other Grand Slams are a bigger deal in tennis, but again, there's no reason why players can't compete in (and win) both. The top tennis players in the world routinely compete in both, so I see no reason why next year would be different. Tennis players play a lot, so this shouldn't be that big of a deal. Certainly, it's a much smaller deal than moving the Olympics themselves, and that has already happened. Actually, I just checked to see what has been done about this, and it seems that the Olympic coordinators worked with the tennis coordinators to fit the Olympics between Wimbledon and the US Open. That is why the new dates are in the same window as the old ones. There are no other major conflicts with other events except for some of the World Championships like the ones in track and field, and again, those have already been moved to 2022 to accommodate the new dates for the Olympics.

I'm not impressed when some tennis player is said to have won a medal at the Olympic Games. I am impressed however when they've won a Grand Slam though.

Yeah, for tennis, I think it goes: Wimbledon > US Open > French Open > Australian Open >> Olympic Gold. The Olympics are a clear fifth. However, Steffi Graf's unprecedented "Golden Slam" of 1988 (all four majors and Olympic gold) is one of the most impressive sports accomplishments ever.
