Not good. Definitely not good. I guess the good news is, unlike in baseball, the team is sequestered at their training facility and hasn't interacted with other teams, as far as I know. How tight their bubble is around the team in Bursa is another unknown. Let's hope this outbreak can be isolated, and, more importantly, that all of the team and its officials will stay healthy.

This does illustrate how quickly it can spread to a team who are in close contact to each other. I know that this team had a shuttle bus picking them up to take them to and from practice each day so they weren't using public transport, but they were all in close contact in the shuttle and obviously during training sessions. They facilities were also getting sprayed down regularly as well as the facility they were sequestered at. Almost all the players are experiencing little to no symptoms; which is good! They are quarantining for 14 days and won't be allowed to return to practice until they get a negative test result. Hopefully, this continues and they all recover quickly and without ill-effects. If any good can come from this, hopefully, it is that other teams tighten their safety measures even more. And, for the Nilufer team, hopefully they will have the anti-bodies to keep them safe for the remainder of the season (should it happen!).

Hopefully we have a vaccine by early 2021. That would help out a ton.

If you watch photos from training in many turkish clubs its obvious that a strict protocol is far away from implementation. On the other hand in Itay teams are following more strict approach. In general the upcoming season is hanging on various factors that could lead in a general shut down again. Federations must too avoid such a disaster and they are trying to implement health protocols that won't go so far that by definition will cancel the whole sport. It's a very risky season and time will tell. If things go to wrong direction we will face a financial disaster for clubs, players, people working in the sport. What is the Italian League doing better (more strict) than the Turkish League with regards to safety protocol? Nothing. It's sad certain people have so much bias against everything within a nation just because of politics in 2020 but oh well, it is what it is. On a more important note: The coronavirus does not discriminate people. From what I hear some players esp. pre season start were going out a lot, dinners in restaurants etc. its obviously not the smartest thing to do. I think what this will do to the league (and most top leagues) is that the players will mostly all be in complete isolation, I mean groceries can be ordered anyway.

Ok I do not want to out players.
But just looking at some of these players Instagram, they are definitely going out and are very far from isolating and social distancing.
I know Nilufer esp. is known as a club that's very 'liberal' in letting the players do whatever they want in all ways really: diet, relationships, partying etc. but in this case being a little more strict might have helped.
Edit: I checked longer and... I'm shocked to see players from all leagues go out as they like. From beaches to dinners to parties. Smh

Edit: I checked longer and... I'm shocked to see players from all leagues go out as they like. From beaches to dinners to parties. Smh I don't know of many, if any teams, that dictate what players can do in their free time (though each team has their own rules). I don't think Nilufer is any different from most of the teams. I know players on several other teams as well, and I know that they haven't been restricted in their free time. Definitely, some players are a little more social than "social distancing", but the teams are considered a cohort group because they are in close contact with each other. They don't all live together and they still have to go out to get groceries etc. (and masks are mandatory in Turkey in public). It might be a lot to ask players to never go out after many months with a team, especially the ones who may have family and friends in the area. Unless a team can afford to sequester players together (like the NHL) is doing, it is almost impossible to dictate what they do outside of their job 24/7. The hope is that they are being as safe as possible, and that they take the pandemic seriously, but they can catch the virus in any number of ways. I don't think vilifying the Nilufer players is warranted because I guarantee that any team could find themselves in a similar situation. As it is, I have heard that some of the other teams in the League have had players test positive, but it hasn't been officially reported. We will have to see if there are more teams that have players test positive and are reported. Perhaps, the teams or League will impose further restrictions as a result of this outbreak?

NBA Basketball is attempting to do that.

Looks like TVF is testing a youtube page. That's where the match schedule was released and there is a "test" video of a court. Hopefully this means some matches will be played on there www.youtube.com/c/TVFVOLEYBOLTV/

Turkish Cup first round schedule These matches will be from September 4-6 Teams that finish 1 and 2 will move to the semi final round Pool B is going to be pretty tough. Out of the lower 4 seeds, Kuzeyboru has some decent foreign firepower that could make things interesting. Pool C should be interesting too. I wonder if THY can upset Fenerbahce? Vakifbank and Galatsaray should have no problems winning their pools.

I just added a poll to the thread. It expires after the 4th week of play that way we can see these teams in action before making final 4 predictions. Playoff Structure: www.tvf.org.tr/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/2020-2021_sultanlar_playoff_catali.pdfIf I understand that link correctly the top 8 teams after the regular season will enter into two SEPARATE brackets? So only the top 4 regular season teams will have a shot at the league title? Correct me if I am wrong. In the past it was the ALL of the top 8 teams that had a shot at the title. I feel like this is an attempt to have as short of a season as possible in order to reduce COVID issues.
