It’s mind boggling. They are simultaneously saying “we don’t think it’s wise or safe for our athletes to compete until sept 10 BUT “the sport that has the most players on the field, the most direct contact can play sooner”. Would someone please explain that to me? There'$ a pr€tt¥ $imple an$wer I’m certain no NEC football program comes anywhere near making money.

Can someone educate me here? Why hasn't the NCAA stepped up with CDC-like COVID guidelines that all conferences and universities need to meet before play can resume in the fall? My daughter's university has definite plans for the general student body, but the athletic department has been frustratingly vague in regards to fall sports. Her head coach has been virtually silent on the matter, deferring to the athletic department's (lack of) messaging. Practices are starting in August, but, as a parent, I'm starting to panic about the prospect of my daughter walking into a COVID cluster-F. Why hasn’t the federal government stepped up with national covid guidelines that all states must meet before they open up? Coaches have to be silent and defer to the athletic department. Coaches are not equipped to create safe guidelines. Athletic departments have to wait for schools. Schools are hesitant to make the wrong decision. There seems to be no right answer. It is all a mess.

If, teams can be allowed on the floor,...media can do the rest. And, much of that college revenue will be saved.

Things are changing behind the negative data headlines everyday. I think this will work out. there are now 3 treatments for older folks, bringing down the mortality rate enormously, Young adults apparently not super spreaders unless you think the protests are responsible for specific spikes. (can't say bars do and protests don't) Just from today from CNBC,
"Gilead Sciences said its coronavirus treatment candidate, remdesivir, “was associated with an improvement in clinical recovery and a 62 percent reduction in the risk of mortality compared with standard of care.” "BioNTech’s CEO also told The Wall Street Journal the company’s coronavirus vaccine candidate could be ready for approval by December."
and Gilead also reported that remdesesivir will soon be available as an inhaler so you could go to a drug store for it and skip hospitalization. BioNTech is a German firm where like many other parts of the world, schools and sports are happening. This vaccine announcement is only the latest one. IMO, none of these postponements are really about health. They are about lawsuit risk and the cost of exaggerated guidelines to prevent lawsuit. And when the feds start reducing endowments to colleges that offer half the college experience with no dorm life, no sports and online classes, they will start changing their mindset and increase their risk. The game changer besides the vaccine will be a statute eventually saying you can't sue for catching COVID viruses.

Right on: "Put your money where your mouth is (or, y'know, should be)" thereof! Here in Hawaii, I will be passing this on; plus, if possible, enrolling in this myself.
