There are so many individual player factors as well. My daughter's school team and club team are already taking hits. An underclassman on her team has moved to Arizona because her brother "needs" to play football this fall. A player on her club team with a D1 accept said her coach has told her they would prefer her play sand next season instead of indoor/club overlap. Other players have said they are hanging it up as incoming seniors, they want to try and enjoy some bit of their senior year in the midst of so much uncertainty.

The WIAA (Wisconsin) has decided that volleyball is a high risk sport, along with football and soccer, and will be pushing the first day the season can start from August 17th to Sept 7th. Individual conferences and school districts may still opt to not play in the fall. For those that decide not to play, they will have some sort of a spring option that will be determined what that looks like at a later date. The district and conference that I coach in hasn't decided to play or not. We have been able to do open gyms and use our 5 contact days this month. But a limit to 20 people total in the gym.

Texas small schools start Monday. If all goes well the 2 largest divisions start Sept 7.

Clubs can start Aug 15 with no tourneys until IL moves back to stage 4. Girls clubs move to split season like the boys. Unless USAV & JVA changes their 18’s championship dates, they will conflict with IHSA’s playoffs.

They have not made an announcement on the rule limiting outside competition like California did. How many clubs will try to make players choose between club and school in the spring?

In SoCal, SCVA has split their season for 15-18s. Tryouts now in September and they are going to put three tournaments before High School play starts in December. Then season starts back up for club when high school finishes.

If I were a HS coach and a player of mine bailed on our season to play club I would have a hard time welcoming them back to my program later. Seems to me that decision would be a final one.

Even when the school season is the one that moved? And by the time spring has come around parents have paid thousands in club fees and signed contracts? It's a tough position to put the kids in.

IL will be interesting as there are a lot of high level clubs and schools. I don't expect any major exceptions, like allowance to play club and school at same time, but I could see windy city qualifier pushed back to accommodate home state issues. WCPL getting all league dates complete prior to high school season starting, so those bids would be assigned. It is curious to note that HS season start date of 2.15.21 is presidents day. Otherwise known as one of the biggest non-qualifier VB weekends of the year.

There's absolutely no telling when that will happen. I can't imagine any power leagues happening in Illinois this year. Way too hard to predict when it will be able to start/end and what could shut it down in the middle. That's a big price-tag for such uncertainty.
