I’d take her. Maybe she could come with “Giorgina” Civita (who grew up in Busto’s youth teams). I'd love to see Civita go back to Italy to play, she's very good (and Im surprised she doesn't have Wisconsin's 'bro jersey but thats another story) I think it'd depend on the middle situation... if Busto are willing to ease through the growing pains... it could be a good fit.. She won't have the pressure of the Champions League and whichever Cup Busto get into next season could be good experience. Won’t they still have pressure next year, since they’ll need to try to regain a CL spot by being pretty spectacular? Or am I not understanding how they can get back into CL after a year out? Hah. I have given up with trying to remember things like this. Anyway - either way I would prefer to see Rettke be a starter on a team in the lower-mid ranks in Italy for a year, then have a couple seasons with a top team leading right up to Paris 2024. I don’t think with the Olympics only three years from now that it would be beneficial to sit on the bench for a top team her first season. Of course, it’s possible she will be good enough to start for any team next year; it just seems to be a lot of pressure for a rookie.

Yeah...I was unimpressed by her blocking in the VNL match against Serbia, which is a highball team. Against Japan she looked lost at times. As a middle blocker, I think her lateral speed just needs to improve a little more and she'll be ready. And her speed will certainly be tested in Italy.

I dont know lol Depending on their other transfers... CL may be a farfetched goal with or without Rettke... however if they would offer to Rettke with the goal of CL in mind.... that may where it gets messy

That's actually so bad for Busto...their bout with COVID and Fenoglio really screwed them over. their success actually did too. They finished 5th with 45 points. Chieri finished 6th with 44... if Busto finishes 6th, they would face Monza and Novara... instead of Scandicci and Imoco. I know which path I would choose, Too risky. With the 6th place if you don't reach the finals you don't qualify to any European Cup. With the 4th place at least you play the CEV Cup. And maybe CEV will change its mind and give Italy an additional CL's spot. Who knows... (this is a wishful thinking).

Is there a reason why they use the playoff standings for Cup spots instead of the main standings?

The 3 CL spots go to: - the winner of the championsip; - the winner of the regular season; - the championship's runner-up. If one team wins both the championship and the regular season, the remaing spot/spots go to the second/third highest placed team in the RS. The CEV Cup spot goes to the Italy's Cup winner. If the winner also qualified to the CL, the spot goes to the highest placed team in the RS, not already qualified to CL.

so...Conegliano, Novara, Monza take the CL spots (assuming everything plays out according to seeding)? and Scandicci takes the CEV Cup spot since they're in 4th? Aren't all matches for standings finished and it's just playoffs now?

Guessing they had the better set or h2h record

Busto is way too much for Rettke’s first pro season. If she starts out at a club as good as Busto I don’t see her lasting long as a pro player. Not a slam to Rettke; I just don’t think one of the top teams in the top league is the right place for her to begin her career. She’s going to be much too raw. I'm not sure about this because Busto has always been a society that has invested in young players. Americans like Lloyd and Lowe started their pro career in this society (and did very well). IMO Rettke has the skills to start from higher levels compared to other players coming from the NCAA.

Rettke has better skills than most at the NCAA level but one huge jump is on the speed of the game from NCAA to pro, and speed is where I think Rettke lacks quite a bit compared to what she’ll need in order to be starting right away; and I don’t think she’ll benefit from being benched. If Busto will start Rettke, that’s great.

Imoco vs Vakifbank for super finals. Excited for that and to Americans Hill vs Mbh!!! Both teams are equally good.
Three Americans: Adams & Hill vs. MBH.

Not super important, but Tapp and Washington were the only middles who faced Japan in the VNL. Ogbogu and Washington were starting during the World Cup. Japan would absolutely run her ragged with their fast system. Rettke's value will be against the the high ball teams, like you mentioned. Her offensive threat is what is going to get her onto elite rosters and onto good pro teams. She does move quite fast for someone her size, but she still has room to grow to get up to the speed level of the international elite.

They should walk away with that title, easily.

My bad I must’ve gotten my middles mixed up (it’s been a while since i watched the match). But yeah I can’t wait to see how she gets better. She has a ton of potential.
