I figured this was going to happen. It's a shame but with COVID, its the safest thing to do.

Do we know if EurovolleyTV is going to be a thing again this year? For me that was the best way to view the matches. It cost like 6 Euros a month which is a STEAL IMO.

Yes. EurovolleyTV is currently broadcasting Euro Beach Volley 2020 and Euro Volley 2021 qualifiers. Do you need a VPN to access it? Not so far. Because FloSports acquired the rights to some of the events last year, these events were blocked in the US and required a VPN. FloSports seems to be short on cash this year.

Champions League Update
This round was supposed to feature 12 teams playing 2-legged home and home matchups. First match this week, return match next week.
Hapoel Kfar Saba (ISR-1) vs ŁKS Commercecon Łødź (POL-3) Mladost Zagreb (CRO-1) vs Calcit Volley Kamnik (SLO-2) Savino Del Bene Scandicci (ITA-4) vs Tent Obrenovac (SRB-1) Allianz MTV Stuttgart (GER-2) vs Minchanka Minsk (BLR-1) Vasa Óbuda Budapest (HUN-3) vs Dinamo Moscow (RUS-4) SC Prometey Kamyanske (UKR-1) vs Khimik Yuzhny (UKR-2)
This is not what's actually happening.
- Hapoel Kfar Saba has positive COVID cases, so they're forfeiting and Łødź advances.
- Minchanka Minsk has positive COVID cases, so they're forfeiting and Allianz MTV Stuttgart advances.
- Italian quarantine rules aren't allowing Scandicci to travel, so they and Tent Obrenovac will play back-to-back matches in Italy tomorrow (Tuesday) and Wednesday.
- Budapest and Moscow are only playing a single match
So here's what we're left with:
9/22, 12:00 PM ET Tent Obrenovac at Savino Del Bene Scandicci (Leg 1)
9/23, 12:00 PM ET Tent Obrenovac at Savino Del Bene Scandicci (Leg 2) 9/23, 12:00 PM ET Khimik Yuzhny at SC Prometey Kamyanske (Leg 1) 9/23, 12:00 PM ET Dinamo Moscow at Vasa Óbuda Budapest 9/23, 3:00 PM ET Calcit Volley Kamnik at Mladost Zagreb (Leg 1)
9/30, 11:00 AM ET SC Prometey Kamyanske at Khimik Yuzhny (Leg 2) 9/30, 2:00 PM ET Mladost Zagreb at Calcit Volley Kamnik (Leg 2)
All matches available on EuroVolley.tv
I also read rumors that Scandicci and Dinamo Moscow will switch Round 2 opponents to avoid the Russian and Ukrainian teams from facing off. So if Dinamo wins, they'd play Stuttgart. Scandicci would play whichever Ukrainian team advances.

I don’t know if there are travel restrictions or if it’s simply because Russia and Ukraine REALLY hate each other politically, but it’s standard operating procedure in European draws to not permit Ukraine v Russia matchups until late rounds of tournaments.

I'm less invested in the European Cups until we start the Challenge Cup/CEV Cup/League round of the Champions league.
This time off seems to have led to more players being injured. Also all these teams need to be more cautious about Covid. I mean....stay home unless you absolutely have to. Obviously a vaccine is the key but until then why not play it safe?
I fear this season we will see a much lower level of play across the board both domestically and in the European Cups simply due to Covid. It definitely sucks as a fan. Not a whole lot of top level ball going on.
