Grow some thicker skin. LBSU isn’t good, and naming an era after a player who hasn’t played a college game is comical. Please challenge the notion that they arent a top 70 program type of good, and how all the talent is just overflowing from that program. Please do, you’ll just be showing exactly how uninformed you are. Also learn how to quote before attempting to do so again. First of all, you disagreed with the notion that they were talented. That is what I was calling rude. Their roster says otherwise and I expect they could be the top team in their conference by next season because of the roster and who they're bringing in. That doesn't mean they will stay there or that they will win the NC or that LBSU is having a resurgence as a program and Stanford should all of a sudden watch out. I have no issue with you being skeptical of the program's ability to capitalize on the talent, I would say that's perfectly warranted. Remember, you're arguing with someone didn't think Mac May had an all around game! He's the definition of clueless.

The biggest thing for Long Beach is going to be getting people who can pass. That team in 2014(?) had some pretty good ball control with Jackson at libero and Brinke and Reid on the outside, and that was basically the last decent team that Long Beach had. Yeah they had Nele Barber for a couple of years after that and she was a stud, but besides her no one else was that good. Tuaniga is a great setter, but if they can't pass, what's the point? Williams and Martinez, as great as they are offensively, aren't exactly stand out passers. Martinez will play Opp so she won't need to. Jordan is a good ball control player and Nicole Hoff has the ability to be the best libero in the conference. I'm more concerned with blocking than passing - assuming everyone is healthy.

Remember, you're arguing with someone didn't think Mac May had an all around game! He's the definition of clueless. Would love to hear your argument for LBSUs “talent”. And yeah I did say that. Because apparently someone can have better numbers in every category, yet they don’t have an all around game. You know nothing about the sport, aside from your undying love for KP. I have no desire to have any type of "argument" with you.

Shea Cotton signed with LBSU but never enrolled over some NCAA issues. Mia is the highest recruit for Vball team in a long time. Coach G built a dominate program by finding mid level recruits who were super athletic and some very high rated recruits. Misty was obviously a huge recruit and a huge athlete (high jumped 5'"10" in hs). The team has been down for years, so yes getting a 5 star recruit has got us Beach fans fired up. The returning weapons are pretty nice as well.

The returning weapons are pretty nice as well. With Starr Williams (a top 30 player in the 2021 class) they'll be loaded on the pins. As I mentioned in my last post, blocking is the issue imo. Bacon and Booth will need to be good in the middle because none of the current pins are dominant blockers and it's not a strong part of Jordan's game either.

This just comes off as rude and uninformed. Rude? Lol how soft are you? How is that uninformed what I said? The truth hurts apparently. Btw sweetheart, I’m allowed an opinion. It’s a discussion board. You don’t like it, refrain from reading. I am a bit confused. You call it a discussion board and in the next sentence attempt to stifle discussion by telling jwvolley not to respond to you and to only read, unless they have the same opinion as you... So which is it? A discussion board where we all reply to each other, or a place where Ballislife blogs their personal feelings and those who don’t agree must not state such, they just need to move on? I’m getting mixed messages from you here.

I’m getting mixed messages from you here. Notice how his response to you had to be some jab about Minnesota's performance in the tournament. There is ongoing discussion in this thread about WHY some of us think LBSU DOES have a talented roster, particularly in 2021. His refusal to read any of that shows he doesn't actually want to talk about it. At some point, you can't win with certain people on here.

Whew, wouldn't touch ^that^ with a 10-foot Swede! Tbh, when I saw the term "Era" in the title it took me back to Jake's "CAL POLY ERA 2018" thread. I know how well THAT turned out!
CSULB has not been relevant, conference-wise, since the mid-2010s. They haven't been regionally relevant since just after 2010. And...have not been relevant, nationally, since 2001.
Now, it's okay to have homer-style optimism about a resurgence....BUT, it's gonna take some time!

Now, it's good to have homer-style optimism about a resurgence....BUT, it's gonna take some time! They have such a talented roster though. How couldn’t they be relevant with such a talented roster? Or is it that their roster is made up of second and third tier club players who weren’t recruited to the top schools, or saw the writing on the wall and realized their “talent” would never match up against top competition? But yeah, let’s make an era about a player who has never played a collegiate match in her life, because that’s smart. I find it funny when other LBSU posters even say their team isn’t good and that they have limited talent. And I’m not saying Tuaniga isn’t talented before someone tries to spin it that way, I’m saying the team she is on is not.

LBSU has the best team in southern California. Better than UCLA and USD? I don't think so

It wasn’t *that* long ago Long Beach State was a respectable T50ish team. They made the tournament in 2014 & they just barely missed it in 2015.
We can’t say that about Cal State Fullerton, who has been awful.
I also think having arguably the best incoming setter is a big deal, and is enough to warrant a thread calling it a new Era.
We can debate if it is too optimistic — but there’s no way LBSU isn’t immediately better. How much is the question?
Long Beach State has had some talented players in recent history, they just haven’t put it together.

Being from SoCal, it would be nice to see Beach get back to being a contending program again on the Women's side.
