Egonu wasn't even doing her full jump yesterday, making my point about Busa even worse. Busa was getting bullied in the two person reception. I think you can put Hancock in that group. It may not be as powerful as Egonu's but its certainly as, if not more, effective. In the league, Egonu is averaging .43 aces/set and .78 errors/set while Hancock is at .77 aces/set and only .60 errors/set. (I do wish I had good pass percentage from their serve, but I dont) But I do think Hancock's serve is a useful weapon. But I don't think that jump (topspin) serve is universally better than float.
Nobody is making that argument though. We don't need Ogbogu doing a jump serve. Hancock's happens to be particularly good and has caused problems at the highest level, despite people claiming a few years ago about her only having success with it because the Pan Am games are a bunch of cupcakes.

Since we're on the topic of serving.... I really like what Eczacibasi has done with JT's and Chi's. It's much more flat and driven than what we saw in the summer. They error more, but they're also routinely putting their opponent OOS too.

Don't judge her based on this past weeks performaces. She is still recovering from Covid. Oftentimes she uses a very lethal spike serve but didn't this week in order to conserve energy. I don't expect to see her for a few domestic matches so that she can fully recover.
