But I'd love to hear more from holiday about how Midwesterners are more virtuous than other people. Well thank you, I am touched, they just are. They’re more honest, hard-working, practical, financially responsible, they obey the law ,they respect the flag, they’re not constant crybaby whiners. They’re too busy making ends meet and working To riot or protest day after day after day after day after day after day after day. They have lives. They’re busy. They’re not constantly complaining that life is unfair. They’re grateful for things.

But I'd love to hear more from holiday about how Midwesterners are more virtuous than other people. Well, they aren't taking sh i ts on the sidewalk of Midwestern cities, that's one. Two, it's really hard to find heroin addicts shooting up in the middle of a wheat field in Indiana. Three, MS-13 murders are really quite low throughout the Midwest. I mean, I could go on and on, but I'll defer to others on the rest of it. . Thank you, you’re absolutely right, they would not allow the bull that went on in Portland to happen. It wouldn’t even get started. Those people would be ran out of town and wouldn’t be welcome back.

You can find plenty of filth and %*$# in small town America. Jesus Christ. They may not be shooting up heroin, but they sure are making meth and oxy'ed out. 5 or 6 "Midwestern" states with higher homicide rates than California - www.cdc.gov/nchs/pressroom/sosmap/homicide_mortality/homicide.htm Says the guy who has heroin addicts shooting up in city Park.

Given that 25 million people don't all show up to vote in California, 12 million voters is certainly enough to make a difference. As a Republican voter in California, you should be all for eliminating the electoral college. Historically there have never been 25M people in CA registered to vote, though more than 25M are eligible. I said could, perhaps you don't know the meaning of "could". As to eliminating the electoral college, no thank you. I'm quite happy to have all those less populated states have a say and not let the nut jobs in 21 of the largest 25 cities in the Country making decisions for all of us. By the way I'm not a registered Republican.

I always forget that the U.S. Constitution begins with "We the land of the United States..."
It makes so much sense for a vote from Wyoming to be 3.6 times as powerful as a vote from California, just because they live in a less dense state!

People with common sense should get more credit.

Yep, it most certainly does make a whole lot of sense. 86% of our states have a population smaller than LA County. I don't believe it's in the Country's best interest to have a President who caters to the voters of 1 county over the needs/desires of several states.

There was a time when one had to be a white male property owner to vote in most states. But the fact is that Wyoming is pretty much ignored in Presidential elections because they vote for Republicans. Why bother fighting so hard over 3 electors? But I'm not sure if talking about states is necessarily productive compared to addressing specific issues that might appeal to similar voters in different states. It would definitely change how Presidential elections are campaigned. I haven't seen a Presidential campaign ad on local TV for decades. That might change if they're trying to get more votes here rather than just declaring the state a total loss. As far as Wyoming goes, the richest county in the state also happens to be the only one that routinely votes blue. Strange huh?

I don't think that the electoral college causes Presidential candidates to "cater" more to small states. It means that Presidential candidates cater more to "swing states."

About as strange as Orange County being staunchly Red in the middle of Blue California. Besides, Teton County in Wyoming (blue) is the county where Jackson Hole is. It's where all the Hollyweird and other various affluent liberals have holed up to create their own little elitist community. People who have the means to live and work where they want to will do their research and find areas where like-minded people and communities are. The internet makes it even easier in today's world.

That's Jackson Hole, but the median income in Teton County isn't that high. A lot of the people working in the tourism industry there live in the city of Jackson and not the surrounding area. And Orange County isn't staunchly red. Not even close. Nice demographic shifts they have there over the years. More registered Democrats than Republicans, although there are a lot of no party preference candidates. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California%27s_38th_congressional_districten.wikipedia.org/wiki/California%27s_39th_congressional_districten.wikipedia.org/wiki/California%27s_45th_congressional_districten.wikipedia.org/wiki/California%27s_46th_congressional_districten.wikipedia.org/wiki/California%27s_47th_congressional_districten.wikipedia.org/wiki/California%27s_48th_congressional_districten.wikipedia.org/wiki/California%27s_49th_congressional_districtI guess we could go to influence by the size of Congressional districts, where Republicans representing California in the House cover more land than Democrats. Republicans seem to have the rural parts of California locked up.

Funny story, my cousin married a girl from Northern California. The ceremony was here in western Nebraska and she asked if we had running water? When the family came out they were very concerned About getting accidentally shot by a hunter. Lots of money, absolutely no common sense. Funny story... Here in Los Angeles, I met a guy from Western Nebraska, or maybe it was Eastern Wyoming, it is really hard to tell where the border is (hahaha, big belly laugh). Anyway, this guy wants a glass of milk. Asked me where the cows were. No common sense. Isn't that just the funniest story you ever heard?
