They said the only safe way right now to play is in a bubble and only way to do that is make them employees which will effectively end college sports.

I don't know why I'm still worrying about this. I've thought since early July that the Fall was dead in the water. I guess I just want closure. I might follow Vader's lead and get snockered instead.
Sigh. But work.

No one, NO ONE AT ALL, is convinced they can run a season this fall. The ONLY reason they were attempting it is because of the revenue generated by football programs. I'm amazed I have to state that at this stage. True. And maybe 'convinced' was too strong of a word. But if there is an SEC schedule and neither school is experiencing a COVID outbreak, the SEC might still want to play those matches if they're playing football. If and when legislation is approved about a spring championship, then you can pivot. I believe the NCAA gave schools/conferences the directive to make the decision to hold fall spirts and conference championships by August 21. No waiting until September to see how things are going.

Cancelling the fall championship is very different from developing a plan for a spring championship. That’s what I was talking about.

Saying "We need to open schools" or "we need to open businesses" without trying to reduce the number of virus cases is like telling your teacher than they need to give you an A on the final exam, but then admitting that you didn't bother with actually going to class or opening the book. There are very, very few people saying we should open either businesses or schools without trying to reduce the number of cases. I read posts in this thread, and others, that sounded like, "We've flattened the curve so let's open stuff." Even though cases are near all-time highs. There are people saying, "the guidelines the CDC put together for opening schools are too tough and too expensive, so they just need to change the guidelines so we can open schools." Or, "Let's set guidelines for when our states/counties/cities can reopen, let's not meet them, and then let's reopen some stuff anyway," (including my own governor, at times).
To me, it ends up being just about the same thing, and talking a lot about the cart before you have a horse. And not bothering to modify the cart to work with no horse -- just figuring that you'll get the cart to work anyway. I respect that your mileage may vary.

The U.S. is reporting about 5 million cases so far. That means we're about 1/50th of the way to herd immunity, with 162,000 deaths already. And we don't know for sure that getting the disease gives you immunity, and if it does, we have no idea how long that immunity lasts. For fun, let's guess that past cases are way way undercounted, and really, 50 million people have gotten it instead of 5 million. At the current near-record pace of 60,000 new infections a day -- which seems to be straining our health care system & supplies a little, but not too bad -- we can get to 250 million infected Americans, and herd immunity (if it works...), in a little over 3000 days, or 8 or 9 years. Of course, if we try to lead a more normal life during that time, instead of hiding in our houses for 8-9 years, we could get there faster -- and start overwhelming our hospitals again. Or we could do what every other country that's somewhat similar to us in socio-economics has done, and try to reduce cases from a firehose to a drip, see what progress comes on a vaccine, and learn more about long-term immunity (and long-term affects on the heart and lungs). Unfortunately, if 80% of the people think option 2 sounds better, but 20% of the people say "we've already flattened the curve so I'm just gonna do my thing," then everyone gets option 1 whether they like it or not. Which tends to piss off the people who like option 2. Saying "We need to open schools" or "we need to open businesses" without trying to reduce the number of virus cases is like telling your teacher than they need to give you an A on the final exam, but then admitting that you didn't bother with actually going to class or opening the book. Herd immunity depends on developed resistance (i.e. you are unlikely to be reinfected after one exposure or vaccination, which is not yet proven with SARS-cov-2) and statistically, it doesn't require a 100% infection rate. 60-70% usually gets you there since exposure risk isn't equally distributed.

I stand with my post from last night, my sources are rock solid. I SAID, WHAT I SAID.
It's over, NO FB in BigTen. Little hope with too many intangibles, with faux vaccine timelines, likely November election chaos, influenza starting in Oct, this is all a recipe for disaster. This will cancel the 2021 Spring.
Don't kill the messenger.
The most important date is January 20, 2021, this day will determine if we rise and unite and restore order, or the depressive madness continues and our country is forever changed.

Well it depends on how far you take it. What falls under "get jerked around"? I think there is a lot of fear mongering going on that is ridiculous and is absolutely political and so much hypocrisy the last few months that people should question everything Bye.
