What's with Lang being criticized as a terrible blocker? She's 5'10". By Hawai'i standards that's tall for a setter: 6'2" Byrd 6'1" Carey (1999-2002), Koelsch (2014-17) 5'11" Iosia (2016-2019) 5'10" Lang, Mafua (2006-10) 5'9" Choy (2019), Brandt (2007-09), Higgins (2013-16) 5'8" Kamana'o (2003-06), Vakasausau (1999-2002), Uiato (2010-13), Stauber (2011-12),

That's better than any match Byrd has played thus far.

I'll go wild if Lang can get a solo stuff on Kash. I remember when 5-8 Mita Uiato got a solo stuff vs 6-3 Kidder of UCLA, so stranger things have happened Not every 5'8" setter can be Kanoe Kamana'o on the block. Kanoe Kamana'o had hops. She could get up on the block. One of the better blocking setters Hawai'i had.

I’m ok with our opponents trying to go over Lang, the line shot is a much lower percentage attempt.. plus our back row can cheat on line..

Jolie had a player collision for that injury so has nothing to do with UH? If so many players in a program get injured, the coaching comes under question. As in, is the coaching emphasizing safety during practice/matches (eg Don’t go under the net). I’m going to assume that coach Rob emphasizes safety, but still a bad look for the program to get good athletes injured. Reporting a season ending injury on the team’s social media makes things look worse. I’m sorry but do you coach? Because this is a dogsh*t take. Freak accidents happen, its not like coaches are pouring water on the court and rolling balls underneath them on blocking drills Like what the actual F is this statement….?

It’s understandable but if there’s a trend like multiple ankle foot injuries or concussions then coaching staff and safety is questioned. It’s not dog. The coaching staff should be accountable for health and safety of athletes to a certain degree. I want to clarify that. If a player goes for a hike and gets into a freak accident like what happened to a beach player a couple years back then that’s not within the coaches control and also no one is blaming the coaching staff for pouring water on the floor, you’re blowing this out of proportion.

You’re literally attributing De Goede’s injury to an oversight by the coaching staff. That’s just so out of pocket because you do not know the cause for Annika’s injury, yet you feel bold enough to make assumptions like that? Come on man that’s just so wrong on so many levels. Yes the coaching staff is responsible for the health and well being of their players. And yes there are coaches, football for example, that look the other way when they should be paying attention to concussion issues and the like, but volleyball is an extremely dynamic sport with constant jumping, quick changes of direction, etc. Unless you’re saying the coaching statf should be limiting the players from jumping, diving, or chasing down balls i don’t see how you can act as if when injuries happen for UH Volleyball its time to start point fingers at Coach Rob.

You think the coaches aren’t going far and beyond their means to make sure their players are as safe as possible? It’s really a weird hill to die on.
